Self explanatory. :D

I've watched S&TC some, not a lot or anything (okay, I've got some of the series DVD's  ).

It's about time these men see how we've been done for all this time. :p

I love it! Sometimes too risqué , but hey...I love this schtuff! Can't get enuff.

S&TC is giving women the edge, baby!!!

I think a lot of women were/are able to identify with the SATC 4 in some way. I think you can also say the same for Bridget Jones or Ally McBeal too. For a long time there werent many strong female figures on TV other then the Mary Tyler Moores, Rhoda from the 70's and in the 80's Murphy Brown but there was a lot of down time and I think its great. In the mid 90's TV started to break the mold by starting to have these figures represent a more realistic female of this day and age. I do think that woman have been able to identify with Ally McBeal, Bridget Jones, Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives (although this show is much more tounge and cheek then real)... etc...

(RoxStar scratching her head wondering how Gloria Stienem possessed her monentarily, putting her bra back on, getting of her soapbox now)

I'm new to it - just started watching it over the past couple of months. Its pure "relationship/lifestyle" porn: totally would not fly in real life, but really fun to watch and imagine having that fictional lifestyle.

how so TIKI? extremely few women can afford $400 shoes and date guys like "mr. bigg" and have high-powered careers while also be physically attractive.

i think S&TC city just shows most women the things they cannot or do not have.

it's all just mental masturbation for the female mind.

It's not all about the materialistic stuff on the show! The materialistic stuff, I have no desire for. :p

bulloney! most women who watched the series were talking about the shoes, outfits, purses, lavish trips and locales, cars, etc....it was totally materialistic.

I think some people see it as a fictional lifestyle as what else might or might not be out there in terms of existence but I do feel that some people do identify with aspects of the characters character. Granted its not as feesable for all women to go out and buy $400 pair of Manolo's but to some people it is. I think that a lot of single women in their 30's get together with their girlfriends and kibitz about men and relationships over cocktails or lunch.

Such a male thing to say, don't you think, alphamale? To tell you the truth, some women do have it all - the looks and the really good money making job. I have met a few IRL. However, they had such strong personalities that ... their love life sucked big time :D.

I do think that women with strong personalities frighten men. They'd rather have someone more fragile and maybe... more needy? My guess, anyway...

Sex and The City is quite entertaining and even if the story gets crappy from time to time, the questions Carry asks about herself and her relationships raise a very very good point.

My most recent exes have been die hard SATC fans. So now I've added another red flag to my dating criteria. Basically, if a woman:

1. Has a bad relationship with her father.

2. Has cheated on a past SO.

3. Watches SATC.

..chances are she'll make a bad partner.

It's the infidelity and dishonesty that deters us, not the "strong" personality. :D

I guess you won't be dating me anytime soon, my friend.

IT's sooo not true! YEs, I love seeing her all buying shoes and going to parties, but what I really like about that show is that they are FRIENDS, they share stuff, even if they're so different. I mean maybe it's totally irrealistic and women would never give that much of themselves to her friends without jealousies arrising and stuff, but it's a very nice thing to at least hope that some women are beyond that.

That's what makes me watch it - Tiki, btw, this is so totally weird. One of my room mates just got the third and the fourth serie on DVD - I've never had the patience to actually see in on TV more than maybe... episodes? So weird that you'd bring that up now, LOL!

So it's a win/lose game now? One up on men? Or is this some deeply ironic ploy on your point to prove that SATC really is ruining women for relationships?

It's fun TV, girlies, not relationship instruction. Unless you wanna end up like the characters :p

I agree that some do, but most do not. I work with some women who fall into this "have it all" category. They are great people.

they do, and I'll be the first one to admit it.

it was a very well written and executed show. even hilarious at times....but, it is still fiction for the female mind that was not based in reality.

Ok C.I.A. and would you have watched the show if it was four red neck women living in a trailer park in Kansas City? you know, with their $7 per hr jobs at wal-mart, wearing flip flops and drinking cold budweiser outta the can.

driving around in their beat up 15 yr old Ford F-150 trucks. hitting the local dive bar on sat nites and picking up guys missing 4 teeth wearing overalls.

:p:laugh::lmao:

I agree that Aidan is definitely better.

I dont think anyone takes SATC as a relationship "how to" guide. If there are women out there doing that then they are not living in reality. I think shows like SATC delve deeper then just their sexual relationships. Its also a show about friendship and interpersonal relationships. For a long time hanging with and talking to your girlfriends didnt always get as deep into many subjects but now SATC has kind of changed the taboos of what women can and cannot do or how they can dress or what they should or shouldnt spend on or what they can do sexually. It also a show about mistakes and it doesnt put woman on a pedastal. Carrie cheated on Adian, Miranda got knocked up, Charlotte had an unhappy marriage, Samantha got cancer.
