Well firstly NC isn't meant to manipulate an ex back into your arms, it's to protect yourself and start healing. That being said I personally think that short relationship ex's haven't developed such a deep bond enough to make them want to go back. I was with a girl for 2 months, fell so hard for her. She cheated, lied, dumped me and went back to her ex (who'd she'd been with for a year and a half). I doubt she thinking of me at all meanwhile I'm here thinking about her (no I don't want her back, i'd rather eat glass) and the whole situation just about all day everyday for almost 2 months now (although the depression stage has come and gone). Try and focus on yourself and trying to move on. If your ex wants to be with you they will let you know. Don't put your life on hold for someone who may never contact you again.

Reconciliations do happen with long term relationships ( because of the bonds etc) but i also think they also happen with short term relationships for the simple reason that there's still a lot more to explore and things haven't been exhausted . Factor in also the fact that with short term relationships, it's likely that there hadn't been as much "drama" or as many fights, arguments and generally ugly events that are likely to crop up when you're in a long term relationship with someone. It could go either way, there's really no clear cut answer. Just my opinion anyway.

I hate when people think NC will make their ex think "Oh he/she isn't contact me I want her back!" It never works that way. NC is for you and for you only to move on. If you NC hoping for your ex to come running back then you will be doing NC the rest of your life with no results. In terms of short term relationship it could work either way. On one hand, there wasn't much experience together so the ex might just look at it as a fling of sorts who is willing to be friends with you, but not really have romantic feelings for you anymore and on the other hand it could be that the connection between you too was so strong that the ex wants to be back with you after a while.
