The term "pedophile" is completely unrelated to any of the subject in this thread.

Everyone else seems to know as much - aside from you.

You might want to acquaint yourself with a dictionary. There are several online.

... and just how does that personal opinion of your work when you tell the law enforcement people what "...should be..." (and shouldn't be ) illegal?

In some states a 27yo having sex with a 17yo is illegal. The age of consent varies from 16-18. Not to mention, sexting is a separate issue. It's illegal to sext with anyone under 18, in virtually all states. But this is irrelevant to whether or not he is a pedophile. Pedophiles can stay within the boundaries of the law. They stay legal if they do not act on their desires, but they are still pedophiles.

pedophilia ped·o·phil·i·a (pěd'ə-fĭl'ē-ə, pē'də-)

n.

The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.

As you can see, it is perhaps you who need to be acquainted with dictionaries. I've underlined the salient terms in case there is any confusion.

Being a pedophile is not illegal. Until they act, they can stay safe, and typically they are very cautious. They are very aware of the legalities, unlike OP.

But the point is that I would think that all of us would agree that a 26yo "talking" and sexting with a 17yo is a pedophile. What kind of a guy would do that? Can't he find women his own age to flirt with? Do you, or would you, if you were that age, sext and flirt with a 17yo? Of course not. Most men have the sense and self-control not to engage like that with children.

I see this new perversion in our society, and it's frightening. We are sexualizing little girls today for some sick reason. We see it in the clothes they push them to wear, the halloween costumes, the ads. We are teaching this generation that it's ok to think of YOUNG GIRLS as sexual objects. We are making it 'ok', and it isn't. And when I see posts like yours it makes me think that it's warping everyones mind. Why defend pedophilia just because it might be legal?

I'm sorry to rant, but I see this a lot and it disturbs me. I see it whenever I'm out with my sister, and I want to vomit. She is only 14 and in 8th grade, but when we go out together I see all kinds of grown men checking her out, whistling, leering, even taking pics of her with their phones, just because she is wearing a short skirt or some short shorts. I will sometimes have the balls to confront them about it, and, like SincereGuy, I get the same bullsh*t defenses - it's "legal", or it's her fault for wearing a short skirt. It's like men have no conscience or good manners anymore. What is happening to our society, that people would act like this?
