RecentChange Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Come on' I don't think any one who says "grow some balls" means it any any sort of reproductive sense. "Balls" have long been a synonym for courage / bravery / guts / masculinity... "That takes some cojones" its referring to something that demands fertility - but guts.... While I have never said "grow some balls" to a guy, I have thought it - and it means I have lost respect for him, think he's a pushover etc. Never stayed with a guy that I thought needed to man up. I don't know what a similar insult would be for a woman - if she is the one throwing out "grow some balls" sounds like she already knows how to be assertive. Women usually aren't insulted for a back of "spine" if you will because they aren't expected to be as assertive as men.
road Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 What exactly does it mean to "woman up?" If someone told me that I'd scratch my head, like "what am I supposed to do?" Grow some eggs. Just joking.
road Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Man up means to face the challenge even when the odds are insurmountable. Women can be in situations where they need to man up. So it applies to both men and woman. The only thing the phrase to woman up can mean to me is for a woman to jump up on a table and scream: it's a mouse. Grow a pair does not mean to grow a pair of anything. Grow a pair means that it is time to man up. However those that cannot grow a pair can always go to the Wal Mart and can buy a pair. They are in the 3rd aisle, half way down, on the 2nd shelf down from the top in the pharmacy dept. Right next to the bottles of testosterone.
