Nemetona Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I've already posted about the guy I've just been on 2 dates with. On the plus side he treats me beautifully, is intelligent, can be quite fun, we have quite a lot in common. But one of the big negatives is his negative outlook on life (there is a thread about this). He's currently on a work trip to Ireland. He's been in touch by text every day from there. Today I asked him if he's falling in love with the city (Dublin) and he replied "no" and then a description of all that is wrong with the city and also how boring the people he is with are and how this prevents him from exploring properly. I guess if I handed him a bag containing £1million and asked "are you happy with this money?" he would give me 100 reasons why he is not happy with it. Yay or nay?
Oregon_Dude Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Well, do you want to date a downer? Are you a positive person? Sounds like an a**hole, IMO. 1
Author Nemetona Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 Well, do you want to date a downer? Are you a positive person? Sounds like an a**hole, IMO. Yeah I'm generally pretty excited about life and try to get the absolute best out of it.
Oregon_Dude Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Yeah I'm generally pretty excited about life and try to get the absolute best out of it.Awesome. Then he will drag you down. No 3rd date. At least I wouldn't. 1
Author Nemetona Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 Awesome. Then he will drag you down. No 3rd date. At least I wouldn't. I wonder if he thinks it is "clever" to always pretend everything in life is disappointing?
lchf Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I haven't read your other thread, but some people have a more negative outlook on life in general. Could be a number of reasons why, either that's who he is in general, suffering from depression etc, I don't know. If it rubs you the wrong way then I'd say nay. 1
Oregon_Dude Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 "I think your outlook on life is a bit negative, and I'm looking for positive people in my life right now. Best of luck." /him 1
lchf Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I wonder if he thinks it is "clever" to always pretend everything in life is disappointing? Well some people grow up in a very high expectation oriented environment. For example my dad always had a VERY high expectation of everything, and his pessimism was evident from when I was very young. Definitely affected my outlook on many many things. Only when I stopped and relaxed this (with a lot of help from my current gf) did I manage to see the beauty in life. 1
