I've had several instances where a guy has asked me what I'm looking for in a guy, and I tell him what they are and when I ask him the same question, he answers back along the lines of "Basically the same in a woman". Is it me, or does that sound half-assed? I mean I understand that there are SOME things that I look for he is possibly looking for as well, but nothing he can come up with on his own??? When you ask someone what they're looking for after they've asked you, do you expect their answer to be at least slightly different from yours, and have some originality?

Half-assed and unoriginal might mean he's scared of telling the truth about himself.

This simply means he is looking for a woman that has breasts and a vagina. That's enough for him.

I learned about this over the years, and now disqualify a woman that doesn't have something original to say about what she wants out of a man or what values she respects from a man. When a person doesn't have anything original to say, it can mean one or more of several things. One, they don't have enough dating/relationship experience. Two, they really aren't paying attention. Three, they don't learn from their mistakes. I find it a turn off if they don't say something that has impacted their life from a past relationship or dating experience, and gave focus to what they are looking for presently.

I personally hate this question unless it completely comes up naturally in conversation, meaning we've already been talking for a while and into a groove and not the guy just coming out of the gate asking "What are you looking for in a man?", which is what an embarassing number of guys do. *sigh*

Anyway, he's just trying to find out if you are into anything weird and if he has a chance with you. Most likely the same thing you are trying to find out when you ask him. It's not so strange that he wants to same things as you do.
