siriusp Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Just curious about something. I never had any problems flirting - until about 12 years ago when I had to get glasses. I don't have to wear them because my eyesight is not so bad. However - I can not see clearly far away and this has caused me many embarrassing situations....... (like shouting hello at total strangers)! Anyway - I tried contact lenses and that was a total disaster. I tried a few times over the years but there is no chance they are going in my eyes. Also when I went for laser - the doctor said impossible as he couldn't even get eye drops in my eyes....

Also when I went for laser - the doctor said impossible as he couldn't even get eye drops in my eyes.... It took me two doctor visits to get contacts in my eyes. I actually had to go home and practice for a while just touching my eyeball. Doc said he had never had so much trouble with someone before. So not being able to wear them is just an excuse. And I highly recommend lasik. Changed my life. 1
smackie9 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Wear glasses. Get that naughty librarian or hot for teacher look going. 4
RecentChange Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) Hahaha I wear glasses and have no problem flirting! Actually I think some guys are drawn to my "look" when I wearing them. How old are you? What kind of frames do you wear? I wear thicker, "nerd" frames (which go with my personality, I am nerdy, more "practical" type). I have a number of different pairs for different looks or outfits. I wear mine all the time - doesn't stop me from getting cat called when out jogging, or from guys flirting in general! I did have to learn how to do my make up in a way that works with glasses. I keep my eye make up minimal, I just do a cat eye liner, and mascara, not much in the way of eye shadow. I have bangs.. They are short, and kinda "edgy" I think my hair also works well with my "nerd glasses". Kinda like the " new girl" look. Glasses have gotten trendy. I laugh when I see girls wearing them without lenses (seriously!?). Like you, I use them for distance, but if I am close and having a conversation with someone (or flirting ) I will often take them off. Edited September 24, 2015 by RecentChange
Author siriusp Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 I only wear mine when I drive.... otherwise I never really got used to them. I still take them off to look! I know.... I don't have frames...just glasses. They are very boring I suppose. My sister is like you and has a collection and loves them. It is almost impossible to get glasses that suit me and someone told me that they make me look at least ten years older! I really don't enjoy wearing them - I got those thick framed ones and they look terrible on me! I just don't have the right shape of face for them... I suppose. I feel that I have missed out a lot in the last years because of not being able to see... (maybe there was nothing interesting to see anyway)!
shet Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Don't understand the question. All I can offer is that it sounds vain. I can't see anything without glasses or contacts, I wear either as the fancy or physical activity takes me, it makes no difference to anything and once women have met me a handful of times they've always said they don't even notice anyway.
Maggie4 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Ha ha... oh I understand the question. What a dilemma, great guy across the room makes eyes at you, and you don't respond because you can't see. Do you realize how much you're missing? 2

Mikau Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Then just wear the glasses? I don't see why you wouldn't. Most if not all guys will either not care about the glasses, or find them actively sexy.
Author siriusp Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 I've never managed to get used to wearing them - except to drive. I am a cyclist and I suppose this is where the problems arose. I tried them cycling one day and I couldn't see a thing! They got all wet in the rain! I find that I often take them off to look at things to see properly - Since I never wear them - it would be a bit weird to put them on to look around and see who is there! Maybe I will try later.... to be honest that never entered my head (because I never wear them). How can guys see if I am looking at them - when the light reflects off the glasses?
Gaeta Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 That made me laugh lol I am sure there are programs online where you can upload a picture and test what is the best shape of frame for your face. I have reading glasses and my problem is when I go to restaurants if the menu is written too small I have to put them on to see. I hate doing that in front of a date lol Personally I don't like the big frame glasses. They don't suit every body. I like the no-frame glasses, sarah palin type. It's more classy and let people see your face instead of your glasses. 1

What does flirting have to do with glasses?
Author siriusp Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 I'm sorry, but what do glasses have to do with the "price of tea in China"? What does flirting have to do with glasses? If you read through the thread - you will know..... if your eyesight is not very good and you can't see everything very clearly you can't see if someone is looking at you/flirting or ordering food from the waiter!
Gold Pile Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 My method of flirting isn't for everyone, but If I see an attractive woman squinting (needs glasses, not wearing them), I know I can sneak in a quick grope without her getting a clear view of who did it. 1
RecentChange Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) So don't know - just wear them!!!! Going through life not being able to see is silly!!!! Look I horse back ride (7+ hours a week) and ride bikes, and jog etc - and I wear them. I love Zunni Optical because I can buy different frames for different purposes. We don't have a lot of rain in San Francisco, but we do have fog. Get some hydrophobic coating for the glasses you are going to ride in - its a big help. I was never a fan of wearing glasses - until my work and the constant eye strain from reading all day demanded that I wear them. So I wear them. Ten thousand times better than not being able to see and missing out on life. And again, I don't know your age or style (personally I do not want to be ANYTHING like Sarah Palin!!! I hate her glasses!) But find something that works for you. Sounds like whatever you have have now is not working. Edited September 26, 2015 by RecentChange
Maggie4 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 How can guys see if I am looking at them - when the light reflects off the glasses? You need a visit to a good optometrist! There are nonreflective lenses, extra thin lenses, all different color shades, prescription sunglasses. The eyewear technology has really improved. I don't know how old you are but, at certain ages, maybe teens and 50's, your prescription can change every year.
Gold Pile Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) Any sex appeal you gain (with some people) will be lost when they see you squinting about and holding the bar bill in your out-stretched arm...when the long arm doesn't work then you'll hold the bill one inch from your face. Not sexy. Good vision is very important in life. LOL I see this thread is accompanied by adverts for zenni glasses. I wonder if we could generate adverts for playboy if we post about it.
