lovemetobits Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 My best friend shared with me the news about a teenager who fooled everyone that she's expecting using a fake ultrasound from Fake a Baby. Now it's not funny, especially the extent of its damage, but she's thinking of pranking her bf with a fake ultrasound temporarily. Well I think it's fine if she really knows her bf well and it's purely for fun. But, I dunno. They've been together for 3 years and don't plan to have any babies as of yet. Would it be ok for her to give it a go?
MidwestUSA Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 That would work for me, because I don't have a uterus. Otherwise, I'd say no. Where do people get these ideas? 4

Krieger Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Only if she be cool with him getting her back. If I was him I would get her so good she never want to see me anymore.
Mrlonelyone Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 In a word no. Suppose he really wants a baby on some level. Most men are very happy when they hear they are going to be or are a father. It is life changing. Even if you aren't married to the woman or anything. After that point you aren't the same. SO being lied to about being a father could be devastating. She should only do that if she is ready to be left. 4
preraph Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 This has been common ever since photos of fetuses have been all over the internet. It's the quickest way I know to get broken up with. It's clearly not a joke, so it is more of a test and it isn't fair. 5
Krieger Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I know way to many woman that find this sort of thing funny . I sure would not find it funny as some that wants kids . Would the same woman find this funny if the long term BF or even husband said we need to talk all serious and talks to you alone and says I want a divorce or to break up I found another woman? Than say just joking April fools. 1
CarrieT Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I did that with my first husband for April Fools Day 30-some years ago. Not only was it not well-received as a prank, I have never played another April Fools joke since. 5
MissBee Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I can't really fathom doing that as a prank personally. For me, there are some stuff that should be left out of pranks: pregnancies, death, illness, stuff like that to me are just plain hurtful/anxiety inducing, even if for the 5 minutes the person believed. I mean it can go both ways, they can either get really anxious because they aren't ready to be pregnant OR get really excited because they're actually happy and then to have you say "HAHAHA JUST A PRANK!" to me seems cruel and just silly. I'd find other ways of entertaining myself or prank about something sillier and less consequential. 2
joseb Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 I did that with my first husband for April Fools Day 30-some years ago. Not only was it not well-received as a prank, I have never played another April Fools joke since. I'm a huge prankster and love winding people up with elaborate stuff. But even I would never try something like this (or the ultrasound) - it's pretty cruel and very likely to backfire. 3
bubbaganoosh Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Bad idea. Real bad idea. Hide behind the door and go boo but this sounds real bad. If this prank is pulled, I would hope that the guy was quick witted and tell her that he's sterile and can't have kids so now the tables are turned. 3
almond Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Incredibly immature behaviour. Advise your friend against it. 2
veggirl Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 That's so stupid. As stupid as the guy who posted on here that he pranked his gf by posing as a home intruder. I question the maturity of anyone planning anything like this. 2
TaraMaiden2 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Yes, then he had the temerity to complain when he was attacked by her and her dad... This girl had better not complain when he dumps her. As he should.... 2
Shining One Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 This reminds me of the fake proposal at a baseball game prank. The woman involved was not amused to find out it was a joke. Some things should be off limits for jokes. 4
dragon_fly_7 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 (edited) I think there are some things you can't prank about unless you want to be dumped or seem as an immature person not ready for a relationship. Emotional events that shouldn't be used as pranks: - Pranking a bf with a fake ultrasound prank saying ''I'm pregnant'' - Cheating pranks - Pranking about breaking up or wanting a divorce - Guys using marriage proposal as a prank (I would seriously break up if a guy ever did that to me) - Death or ''I had an accident'' prank Edited September 24, 2015 by dragon_fly_7 1

Some things should be off limits for jokes.Agreed. I included that on my list of things that shouldn't be joked about. Nothing more would pissed me off than a bf surprising me all of the sudden by proposing, only to sudddenly say ''it's a prank''. I hope the woman broke it off. I would. That's just cruel. It's a way of killing someone's hope and all their feeling they could have possibly had for you before.. 1
mrs rubble Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I did that with my first husband for April Fools Day 30-some years ago. Not only was it not well-received as a prank, I have never played another April Fools joke since. 3 ladies at my work produced positive pregnancy tests to show the boss one April fools day... The panic on his face was priceless! 1
kilgore Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 3 ladies at my work produced positive pregnancy tests to show the boss one April fools day... The panic on his face was priceless! That is very different than doing it to a SO 3
Radu Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 3 ladies at my work produced positive pregnancy tests to show the boss one April fools day... The panic on his face was priceless! Wow ... what kind of idiocy is that.
Author lovemetobits Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 Thanks a lot for your comments everyone! I really appreciate it. I strongly advised her not to do it, as it may do more harm than good actually! Knowing his bf, he's quite a cool guy but this joke might not be quite entertaining. But yes, a fake ultrasound prank pulled off towards a boss, colleague or buddy would be funny.
basil67 Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 That's so stupid. As stupid as the guy who posted on here that he pranked his gf by posing as a home intruder. I question the maturity of anyone planning anything like this. It makes me question the veracity of the initial post.
PegNosePete Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Personally I'd find it quite funny. As long as it's only a short prank as in 1 minute or less before revealing it as a prank! Not making me actually believe it for weeks or days or even hours. But yes, a fake ultrasound prank pulled off towards a boss, colleague or buddy would be funny. No, it would not.
