I am noticing that some people in the online dating world place value on us answering these rather intrusive and personal questions as a means of weeding people out of the running.

I spoke with an OK Cupid user and she said if one isn't willing to answer the above question, along with other such questions that people may not be willing to revealing about...that "Maybe online dating isn't for them."

Apparently, there are some situations where online dating is ONLY suitable for a certain category of people.

Too much too soon? or not?

Personally, I think that's a stupid question, and if I answered it at all, it would be with something bogus and flippant.

I'd like to think I'd match with others who thought the same of the question.

Well, I guess that weeds out the incompatible people pretty quick then!

I always answered that question very tongue-in-cheek. No real private information is going in that box. That's what MEETING AND GETTING TO KNOW SOMEONE is about.

It's a stupid question. I would only reveal such things to someone with whom I have a serious relationship - not for the titillation of the general user community.

The most private thing you're willing to admit can be anywhere on the spectrum from very private to not at all private. If you aren't willing to admit anything genuinely private, it's really not a big deal to just put an answer like: My favorite restaurant is Chili's. Answered! Done!

I thought Ok Cupid took that question off.
