Leegh Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Anything that will help with a "shaky" sounding voice, when new guy calls? Obviously, it is a giveaway that I am nervous and it is quite embarrassing! It only happens if I like the guy, and I only sound nervous maybe about the first minute or so, then my voice returns to normal. Also, it happens if I call a guy I like. It's ironic the guys I don't like (romantically) my voice sounds fine. Are there any singers reading this, who know how to strengthen the larynx, or any other tips in general? Thanks.
jen1447 Posted September 19, 2015 Posted September 19, 2015 Shakiness or sqeakiness in the voice happens bc of stress, which constricts your larynx and can deflate your diaphragm. You don't really need to do anything to your larynx, you just need to not be stressed. Try deep breathing exercises before the call. (Long breaths, in thru the nose, out thru the mouth.) It usually works.
