Yurash Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 So really its a confusing situation for me because I have very little romantic experience. I'm a nerdy guy and not in the cute way, so we put it at that. Anyways so a friend of my best friend has been asking me to study with them...and I won't lie, she is a real knockout. And after a while I develop feeling for her because a) she is a real knockout, b) she is nice to me, and c) she is the only female contact I get. I'm a real lonely guy. I have only one friend and my family lives in Russia. So I read things that maybe are not there. So but I know not to be such a push-over and I decide to cut studying early to go off and do Yuri-****, because Yuri still likes to do his Yuri-****. And she basically says, "no dont go!". I say " gotta go", and then she says "But I LOVE YOU!" Of course, I carry on like I misheard something and say "What?" and then she says nothing. She says "nevermind, go." Of course I act like I misheard something and nothing happened but I heard what I heard and it ****ing rattled me to my core. It's still rattling me eventhough as usual I show no emotion and carry on with her like it never happened. So my first thought is this: "She just ****ing with me?" She has to be ****ing with me. So do you guys think she is just ****ing with me to whatever ends her female brain is going for or do you think its a freudean slip? Do I have to have a "conversation/confrontation about this? By the way she isn't too smart. So I doubt her ability to plot so in depth but still, this **** has me rattled. Maybe I should quit cold-turkey.
carhill Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Welcome to LS. Here's a tip to provide clarity in such instances, presuming you're together in person which this appears to be: Take her face gently in your hands and kiss her. No need to talk. The answers will come. Trust me. 4

carhill Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 In that moment, all will be clear. It may not be the obvious or desired clarity, but it will be there. You might disagree, but the answer is no more or less bullshyte than yours is. Hence, respect is paramount. Thanks! 2
highseas Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Wow, Yurash, seriously you need to grasp this opportunity right now. She said she loves you but was too shy to say it twice. Besides, she knew you heard it but thought you were playing with her by pretending not to have heard her. You need to ask her out and show her some affection and tell her what you feel, since you like her too (don't know if you love her, though). If you don't take some risks you may be alone for a long time, especially given you're a nerd. Man up and make contact as soon as possible. At least that's what I would do in that position. If not, years later you will still beat up yourself for letting her slip away. Give us updates.
Maggie4 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 In this particular context, I think "love" has the same meaning as in "but I love ice cream!" Also reminded me one time I wouldn't do something for my niece, and she said "but I love you". Very cute, but still no. But all is not lost. I think this girl would be open to flirting. Try that next time. 1
xUnknown Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Do what Carhill said. If she wont come over, go over to her place, when she opens the door - do it. Chicks love that romantic movie style stuff lol But really, you gotta go kiss her.
bluefeather Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 It just seems like she was joking in a flirtatious way. If she said that after you said you were moving away, or said you were getting a gf, that would be a different story. You just said you were gonna cut off study time. That's not anything final. If you are into her, you should ask her out. Then you will get an answer that is more clear. In this particular context, I think "love" has the same meaning as in "but I love ice cream!" J21 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I'm sure you're a nice guy, but I don't think she was confessing love. She was probably joking or using the word "love" as in "I love ice cream" as someone posted above. Flirt back next time, see what happens
Jules Dash Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I would do exactly what Carhill suggested. I wouldn't even think twice about it or try anything else.
Jules Dash Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 By the way, Carhill, I read some of your journal a while back. I used to think "what kind of person would take time to create one of these things on a site like this?" Then I actually took time to read some of yours out of curiosity and it was interesting.

Thanks for bringing this up. I might try this out, myself.
