I'm currently hunting for an entry level position after finishing college, and for most entry level positions, when I research the company, almost every result on google is a job posting. I seem to struggle to find even a site for the company posting. I can't find anything on their history, or what the company exactly does. Are these likely scams/pyramid schemes, or are there legitimate companies that seem almost invisible?

More often than not they are adverts posted by agencies.

However, it is a way to get in touch with agencies and if they like you they will call.

Better bet?

Contact and visit agencies yourself. It shows more drive and confidence.

It's been my experience that anything that is boldy advertised as ENTRY LEVEL NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY is often either sales or a pyramid scheme. Reputable companies you should be able to find their website. The advertisements also tend to say very little about the job description. They also often mention they are looking for several people for one position or that you can make a 6 figure salary right away. Most legitimate entry level jobs actually don't put ENTRY LEVEL in big bold letters.

If you contact them and they don't want to tell you about the position until the interview, that is also pretty shady.

Agree but .....recruiters/agencies who advertise on line would not post the name of the company though, not from what I have experienced. They wouldn't want the candidate contacting the company directly, the agency would miss out on the commission..

The ads from agencies I see say "our client is seeking...." ... or "a reputable company in _______ has an entry level position open for _____ "

Something like that.

If they're posting ads for jobs at companies that don't exist, just to get you to contact them, that is illegal.
