Gloria25 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Maybe it's just something for people to aspire to. A relationship where both people click and elevate one another But still, I do not see where the term "soulmate" applies to what you are describing? What you described, IMO, would be like saying "I found someone compatible with me who makes me a better person" Thing is, RLs already are built on people who "click"...and even better, they inspire each other to become a better version of themselves. Like a guy who meets a particular woman? He starts doing things to improve himself and/or "arise" to the occasion. Like if he didn't have a job, now he wants a job cuz he wants to be a better man for her. Like a woman who meets a particular guy? She wants to learn to cook in order to feed him and rise to the occasion to be a better nurturer for him and/or the family they will have. 1

kendahke Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 (edited) No, I don't believe in soul mates. I believe that you can have an unbelievable connection with a person which defies all understanding. I have had that a number of times in my life, but I call that more like "having one's nose wide open"/being head over heels in love than anything else. I wouldn't go so far as to give them a name like a "soul mate". Both souls should come already complete and whole to the relationship, without the need to glom onto another soul to get their life. As with all relationships, you have to invest time and energy into it. Relationships with amazing connection still requires work and investment--it can't skate off on its own and remain viable. Jj66 Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Soul mates do not exist. The concept is utter bull****. 1
Diezel Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Don't believe in them. It's something human beings made up.
Oregon_Dude Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Sure. I've had 4 soulmates so far. And there are probably more waiting!
popcornpuff Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 I believe that soul mates are created, not found. When you commit to learning what makes a person tick, when you ride through the highs and lows with them and learn what they like and don't like, when you allow love to blossom within the context of infinite patience and understanding, and when you have someone who is willing to do the same for you, then you can call them your soulmate.
katiegrl Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 Soulmates meaning two ppl who were 'destined' for each other, and no one else, by some magical force? No, don't believe that. Soulmates meaning two ppl who are so in tune with each other that it seems to transcend normal possibilities of human interaction? Sure. I agree that ultimately it's a chemical reaction in the brain designed to facilitate mating and propagate genes, by there's a human component to all biology that can't and shouldn't be ignored imo. Meaning that yeah, our brains are pulling these tricks on us in order to make us do stuff that will make us procreate, but it's still us - humanity - and the effects of love, no matter how they come about, aren't false just bc the impetus is biological. ^^^ This....... Unless you've experienced it...you will argue this is BS...but for those of us who HAVE experienced it....it makes sense and is very true. 1

I have experienced it with more than one person. It's beautiful. Soul mates as in the one person you are meant to be with is dangerous BS that has caused as much angst as about any other malady known to mankind. Edited September 9, 2015 by Jj66
