ZA Dater Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Mods perhaps you can advise, I know there is a consolidated thread on Tinder but I was wondering if one could set up a poll on this forum, my question would be do people see it more as a hook up app or as a relationship dating app? Just a simple poll with on topic discussion? Not sure if this is possible? Apologies if this thread perhaps duplicated another, if so you can remove this one.
Qboro90 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 It's both. Higher majority of people use it for casual hook ups but I know a good amount of men and women who have met their significant others through tinder and are dating. It's not going to be classified as black and white one way or another. That's the allure of it.

I never really saw it as a casual hook up app, never really occurred to me until and old study friend told me she used it and 90% of guys were just looking to hook up. Honestly I sometimes feel really dumb, here is me being a gentleman and in fact the opposite is what most do.
Qboro90 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Just because a lot of people use it for casual hook ups doesn't mean that there isn't a large demographic that is open to more than that. Hence why the "about me" section is there. Some girls outright say they aren't looking for something serious, others will. Case by case it varies.
pleasedtomeetyou Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Tinder is in a strange place because it started out as a hookup app and to people who don't use the app it is perceived as a hookup tool. But i've met many people on Tinder who are looking for more than that. I think it is really attractive to people who want something more than a one night stand, but they're not quite sure exactly what they want yet. It's a fun app that allows them to experience many different people and hopefully find out what's important to them. That's why I think it's very attractive to the 20-something crowd.

I suppose that's the most balance view point, I still cant figure out what my objective should be when using it.

I think this is pretty close. It's definitely not the hookup app it used to be (or what I believed it was before I actually used it) Most profiles on there say they are not looking for hookups (but not sure if that means the empty profiles are?!) By the way it's not just the 20 somethings that are looking around, at least not here.
