Something I found in an old post made me wonder. Why do exes tell you to go **** a bunch of people "to get over them" while breaking up with you?

 

This happened to me a while back and now I can actually laugh about it because it's just so...weird. One user suggested it's to make you feel better/ allow you to move on faster...though I can't understand how anyone could be THAT messed up...

I think it's because when most people get involved sexually with someone they tend to forget the past (if the sex is good:)). I really think they are trying to help you move on.

OP, he's on point. The dumper wants you to move on from them and not contact them anymore, thus they suggest putting some notches on your bedpost to distract yourself and leave them alone.
