LoveIsMyReligion Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Whether it's Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or whatever we've all done it, checked up on our ex. Why do we do it? Is there anything to gain from it? Are we all secretly masochists? Maybe. Or perhaps we're just human looking for a way to scratch that itch.. 1
Gus Grimly Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I found my Ex's dating profiles. For me, it was curiosity or boredom. At first it was fun to see how full of S*** she was on the "About me" parts. Now I could care less. I don't really think you can spend that much with someone, be intimate and share all sorts of memories with someone and not have a modicum of curiosity of what they're up too after you split.
YellowPetal Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Honestly, I couldn't care less. When my ex dumped me, he wanted us to be friends. I thought we could be in time and I turned off his facebook notifications. After I found out he cheated on me, I blocked him everywhere. I feel no need to check up on him. Maybe if we broke up in a amicable fashion, I'f feel differently. 1
catlady11 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 I'm a glutton for punishment I guess. I think it's because I'm still at the stage where it's more painful to let go then hold on. 2
Meli22 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 If I do it it's just pure curiosity. Every blue moon I look at the Twitter page of my ex from years ago! I have no feelings for him whatsoever. It's just curiousity. My most recent ex "accidentally" followed me recently. I know he was obviously snooping and pressed a button by accident. 1

I hate when I accidently follow my Ex's twitter feed, darn it. Whoopsie! Am I in trouble?
mtnbiker3000 Posted August 27, 2015 Posted August 27, 2015 Just don't do it. It's really not that hard... I've been true NC for 2.5 years... Not even one peek. I guess it helps that I don't even have an FB account. Seems like such a waste of time and energy... 1

I guess it helps that I don't even have an FB account. Seems like such a waste of time and energy... I only spied the 1st month after the BU. It actually helped me move on to see my Ex who's a 35 mother of 3 dating 20 somethings and acting like a teenager. Made me soooo grateful to be rid of her from my life. It also made me disgusted and I never wanted to see or hear her name uttered again. I'm so done with that. 1
