Sounds like this guy was taking advantage of you and you dodged a bullet.

Of course he's hurting. You're hurting. In different ways. But how did he not see this coming? Did he think he won the bf of the year award? He sounds full of empty promises. Kudos to you for getting out and wanting more for yourself.

That's kinda what I was hoping to see but it's hard to look that way when mutual friends (who really had no idea about the whole ordeal) could turn and look at me as some kind of monster, not knowing how verbally abusive he could be. it just sucks. you feel like the world is against you because you chose to never divulge personal issues (unless he did) because it was your business alone...
