Sometimes is can be a d&ck thing to do.

Also if you had a problem why didn't you go over and speak to them in person in the first place, instead of being passive aggressive and changing your wifi password?

I already addressed that in the details.

Ok that's really wonderful that so many people here want to express their cat-loving opinions but let's stick to my original question on how to deal with my a-hole neighbors. K? thx.

There are other cats in the neighborhood and they own, or feed, only one of them.

My suggestions are:

Be friendly and get along with them. Be neighborly.

Change the name on your WiFi.

Accept that cats are part of a neighborhood environment.

Move into a high-rise condo.

Or play Hatfields and McCoys as long as you live there.

Just relax, really. :) You are new to the neighborhood....getting to know your neighbors in a light hearted way would seem a higher priority.

I have two pups. My front yard is wide open and I don't care if any animal walks across it. The back, 1/2 acre, where my pups go out is privacy fenced. Get a privacy fence.

Honestly, if I saw a kitty in my back yard when my pups are out, I would be more concerned for the kitty's safety with my shepherd mix. I would bring my dog inside and let the cat have free reign. No pet will be harmed on my watch.

Try to relax about this. A cat across your yard is a blessing, not a curse. So are good neighbors.

Dogs can bite people and take much larger dumps in general. Cats usually keep to themselves. Hence the double standard.

Though I will say since I've been down here I've seen dogs that are trained so well it kind of boggles my mind, being from the Northeast. To the point I can walk by with Timshel's dog and they'll never leave their own yard despite there being no kind of fence. Still, I don't know too many people who will back you for being mad a cat wandered into your yard. That's generally the cat standard.

Sorry, but in my experience, the cats who use the plants area in front of my home leave some smelly crap that smells for days. Worst, I can't find it cuz I guess they dig up the mulch and do their thing like it's a freakin' kitty litter box. So, add that to my list of why I hate cats...

Yes, it boils down to the owners, but I still hate cats cuz people are more likely to let them loose rather than dogs. So, cats will roam around, poop, get in your trash, sleep on top of your vehicle (yes, I'm serious)...and, probably be plotting ways to come into your house and kill you while you are sleeping!!!

If there's another animal in your yard you have full right to trap it and take it to the SPCA, just saying.

Yep, and that's what I was about to recommend.

And drive to another county, so if they try searching for it, it'll be hard.

You can't "talk" to people like this. They are not naive and/or children. They simply don't care.

And some people are just racist di*ks.

In my current hood, my neighbors had issue with me from day one and didn't even meet me. I've posted about this here on LS. It's like that sometimes - not everyone is gonna "welcome" you to the hood with apple pie and/or cookies and a smile.

Shoot, before I even moved in they had me in their sights. One day I was sleeping in my vehicle awaiting the realtor to open up the home to me so I could store stuff cuz we were under contract and the owner was cool. Well, neighbor comes out, and walks past my vehicle several times and gives me the dirtiest stares....ahole

Umm...that's your opinion. Try stepping in a pile of cat sh*t and see if you still think it's a blessing.

Or your dogs trying to eat it up  !!!

Yes, I have to watch my front lawn too cuz the dogs try to eat it up. I mean one of them especially likes to break out in search of cat poo or cat food left out by neighbors

Actually, like a month ago I caught my doggies fighting with a stray and it was not a pretty sight. I saved the evil kitty and sent it on its way. Not sure "what" provoked it to take on more than one dog

Well if the cat is using your yard as a frequent litter box that's one thing, but if you're looking to start a war with your neighbor over their cat just stepping foot in your yard then you were probably looking to start a war with them in the first place.

OK! You should find a way to accept the cat roaming into your yard occasionally, and start to be friendly to your neighbors. Because having decent relations with our neighbors is really important! :bunny::bunny: Or else move, maybe into an apartment where you won't have a yard for neighborhood cats to come into.

If anyone did that to my cat and I found you would most likely come home to your dogs missing.

Plus how cruel to put a cat in a shelter away from its home just because you don't like it and have a beef with the neighbors.

How would you feel if someone did that to your dog?

esp since not all shelters are no kill shelters.

Someone already pointed out you started out passive aggressive. You wanted to confront them, without really confronting them.

I guess that didn't go over well, probably because it was insulting.

Now they're the "*******s" because you started out passive aggressive on them.

The only surprise is that you're surprised by the results. You pretty much set it up to play out this way and it worked! Congrats and welcome to your new neighborhood.

If I were in your shoes, i would do the following:

- try and determine if the at has been wandering like this for some time before you moved in. if it has, then you may come across as someone who moves into a neighborhood and expects everyone else to conform to your standard

- talk to your neighbors and explain the problem and also that you would be happy to work with them to find a solution to the problem. unfortunately, you've already done something ( the wifi incident) that may have already slammed that door closed

- call the community where you live and find out what the

laws are regarding roaming animals. I would also investigate what the laws are regarding barking dogs, as they can just as easily claim your dog is bothering them ( many dog owners claim " my dog never barks" when in fact, it does) and ask yourself if going down that road is really worth it

- there are methods to keep unwanted animals from your yard that won't hurt them. try some of those until you find one that works

- if you decide that this is a battle you want to fight, be prepared to keep your dog only in your yard, and never, ever let it walk on someone else's yard in your neighborhood or bark. If people find out you have been acting the way you have, you may find yourself labeled as a neighborhood crank, and people will respond accordingly.

- seriously, you think someone making a barking noise in their own yard is harassing your dog? I would suggest you really rethink this a bit.

If you are, get some mental help.

I agree. I work very hard in my garden and it's where the food that goes in MY mouth comes from. When I smell, or have stepped in cat-dookie, I see >RED<

They're a living creature and I fall rather eastern in my beliefs, but I still have trouble keeping my peace cause it's a problem. That's nice some altruistic cat-lady can have her company while she feeds a bunch of vagrant wild animals (that's what they are in my neighborhood), but she/he is ignoring the neighborhood at large.

cats. I can't dig on a woman with cats, or one with a pitbull- cause it's trendy now to rescue a pitbull to prove how nice they are.

Decency is not always the same as right's. Just realize when you choose to trap your neighbors pet and then not only not inform that you have done so and they should go to the SPCA to pick their pet up so their little kids don't go crazy or hell, even go so far as to make it impossible for them to find their pet again, that right wrong, within the law or not, you have entered a competition of who can be the biggest *******. And yes, you choosing to trap is being an *******. You trying to do it without them knowing is being a coward.

Being a coward is acting childish about a stupid wifi ID but not saying anything to my face when you see me. Keep your cats off my property and there won't be any problems. How hard is that?

Instead of doing some stupid wifi ID ****, why didn't you just go up and talk to them face to face when you see them? Your stupid little wifi **** is probably what has them judging you as unapproachable. Probably juding you much worse than that now.

And they're cats. You ever try to herd cats? It's not going to be perfect. Yes I know, you're not understanding.

Good luck with the war.

An animal wandering around 23 hours a day and only shows up to eat is not a pet. It's an animal wandering around 24 hour a day and only shows up to eat.

I'm not a coward or passive aggressive, I'm aggressive-aggressive. They would have fair warning that their cat is going to be trapped (on my property) and turned into the SPCA. And I'd make I'd also make it a point to return their processed food that the cat left in my yard too. Don't have an animal if you're not prepared to take care of and monitor. Same goes for kids.

You sounds like a cat person, you already have a strike.

If a neighbor found one of pets on their property, you can bet that I'd ensure my pet never left my yard (and my dog and two cats don't). Not because cat hating neighbors are the spawn of satan, but in most places, roaming cats simply aren't safe. These same neighbors probably wouldn't be fine with a dog routinely coming into their yard, or a cat (which could attack their pet or cause it stress). That's a normal aspect of owning a pet, keeping it healthy and safe from obvious dangers.

A combination of good fencing and other deterrents will make the cat more likely to seek out other lawns. Don't show irritation about the barking, as that will just egg this guy on.

Cat haters are the spawn of satan? LOL! Yeah...ok. Think you've got that backwards. If you think spawn of satan is equivalent to keeping my animal quiet, clean, and off your property, then ... hmm nvmd, don't wanna get flagged.

I was joking about that part ;)
