Hi all,

I've recently become better friends with an old acquaintance from college and we now both live in the same hometown. I'm 32 and she is late 20s and recently we've had lots of laughs together, including kissing a couple of times after some drinks, though this has always been a group of friends together.

I did ask her out to dinner one evening then she cancelled by text, on the day, blaming another commitment. We have not discussed it or arranged another meeting but days out with friends happen regularly and we get on very well still, and she regularly pays me compliments.

The situation is complicated by my being friends with her papa and brother, and they are often on the same outings, walks etc.

My feeling is to keep my distance somewhat, not wanting to end up in the "friend zone", but I do enjoy her company a lot, and it's inevitable that we will still end up in each others' company.

We are both fairly recently single and it is only now I am considering looking for something. Is there a way to suggest a friends with benefits type of brief romance before we move on to other people, without ruining what we have now?

I look forward to your advice.

Thank you

Friends with benefits, DB?

She won't even go on a date with you.
