So i have been texting and flirting with this friend of mine for a while but it was nothing serious and i never thought of dating her until few weeks back, she suddenly told me that instead of testing each other and wasting time, we should really get to know each other better and see if we are suitable.

Some background information on her, has been single so far in her life, she's 27 this year. Very introverted and quiet girl, who prefers to keep a low profile. From what i know, probably has had zero or few suitors.

After what she told me, i asked her out and the first date went quite well. I ordered some flowers to be delivered to her workplace a few days after that but that backfired a bit, as she told me she wasn't quite ready to handle all the questioning from her colleagues.

We went on a second date, which was still quite ok, at least i didn't find her feeling uncomfortable or awkward and we were chatting quite well.

But the next few days, she started to respond lesser and lesser to my text and when i ask her what was going on, she told me she needed more time, don't want to rush into anything and wanted to understand each other before making any decisions and it might be better to just text and not go out?

I asked her whether it was because she felt like i was rushing things and she felt pressurized? But she denied it.

So what do you all think? Is it a classic "Not-interested-and-wanna-let-the-guy-down-gently" case or She just isn't used to a guy suddenly getting into her life

It's the classic now-that-I-got-it-I-don't-want-it. Women do this all the time. They only want what they can't have. You should have been a little less forward and made her work for your affection.

I'd pull back and let her initiate. Just tell her that you don't want to play this on-off questioning it sorta game she's playing. Tell her you know what you want and if she isn't going to give it a honest go, then don't try it at all.

Remember that saying, heads I win, tails you lose.

It is one of three things.

A. What LoveRefreshed said - she wanted something and now that she has it....

B. She's really not ready for a relationship as you hinted

Both of these require you to be firm in what you want/need but as the poster said - back off and let her take the lead

C. She's not interested

i'd put money on the first two more so given your explanation. But if it's too much for you to handle, then you should let her down gently.

She has described herself as very conservative , and that was what I had always thought she was. So for her to take the initiative and tell me we should try and know each other better and see if we are suitable, was very surprising to me.

I thought it was a good sign and thus go after her. So for her to suddenly turnaround and say she needs more time and better to just text and not go out, I just kind of assume its a bad sign??

And being as conservative as she is, in the two years plus we have known each other, she has only taken the initiative once. So I doubt she will take the initiative anytime soon.
