whatwhit Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Hello All- Wanted to tell you about the most "adventurous" date for me so far. So I met this guy in a online dating app, and we decide to meet for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. I usually like to be the first one to show up, not only to help keep the nerves down, but so that I can have at least one drink to help keep the real nerves down lol . So he shows up, good looking guy, he orders drinks. We close out to eat dinner and the bartender puts his drink on my tab (weird I thought) he pulled out his wallet but I just paid for it told him he can get me next round. So we eat dinner conversation is going pretty good up to this point and we leave to our next destination a scenic overlook with wine. On the way to to this scenic overlook his car alternator begins to conk out, so much to the point that it stops in mid main freeway/intersection. Won't turn on and so we are sitting Ducks in a main interstate in a million people populate city lol. So, I think it's pretty funny we were right behind a light I mean we were definitely in a dangerous spot but it could be worse. We wait for like 40mins. We the cops and triple A show up,he tells them we are on a first date they make some jokes. The cop offers to take a to a nice bar downtown and drops us off. After that we are just trying to digest everything that happened, he's touching my leg, when we walk he would put his hand on the small of my back to kind of guide me if you will ( freaking love that), I put my arm around his, and he grabs my hand ( no interlock fingers weirdly enough). There were mentions of hanging out again, but no set date. I end up driving him home and he made sure I didn't have to pay for anything that night, felt bad for me taking him home, and he hugged me ( no kiss ) and said "let's keep in touch". That was about 1:00AM And haven't heard from him since! I know it's only been one day. Thoughts? Hopefully there's a second date of not oh well I have a good story at least.
hakim Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Sounds like a very eventful night! One that I can only dream would happen to me and a woman I was dating!... Inexperienced men will avoid going for the kiss on the first date. He might have been too shy to kiss you OR he wasn't interested (which I doubt). How long exactly has it been since? Have you thought about sending him a "Had a great night" text?
bubbaganoosh Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Could be he feels embarrassed about his car situation and feels like he blew it. Maybe send him a text and say hi or a phone call and it might make him back on track. About 30 years ago, I took a girl to a hockey game and when I got in my car something happened and I had no clutch so that means no clutch, no shifting gears. Lucky for me I had experience in things like that and was able to synchronize and time it right so I was able to get us home. I thought I blew it big time and her I found out she was really impressed how I did it. Goes to show that if she didn't tell me that, I doubt if I would have asked her out again or her accepting. 2
elaine567 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I agree with bubbaganoosh, he is probably mortified.
Poppyolive Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I like to send a thanks for a fun night message the following day. Especially if I am interested. His reply is where you can gauge his feelings. Instead of waiting. Also, "let's keep in touch" I don't know about that, to me that's kind of friendshipy, It's sounds like an awesome first date. I hope you get what you want.
GemmaUK Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Aw! Reach out to him!!! He had a bad night in terms of his car, you got on OK/well from the sound of it and laughed it all off but yeah, give him some leeway on possibly not feeling so great. Call or text him.
Author whatwhit Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 Alright! I took your advice and said "Hope your car repair wasn't super expensive! Just wanted to let you know that I had a pretty awesome time last night :)" fingers crossed people lol 1
Author whatwhit Posted August 8, 2015 Author Posted August 8, 2015 He texted back! Said he had a great time too and was happy I did as well. He made a joke about how next time there will be hopefully less cops involved. Haha thanks everyone for your advice! 3
Versacehottie Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I was gonna say he was probably dealing with his car!!! If an emergency type thing like that happened, you can always revert to being a good friend and reach out. I think that kind of support is good to exhibit and you will have no better opportunity. Glad it worked out.
bubbaganoosh Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 See that? ask and you shall receive. Best of luck and I hope everything works out.
