Why do people ask for a date when they are already on a date?

I have a question.... I notice that a lot of people these days ask for or talk about a second date while they are already on a date........ this is something completely new to me, I never heard of this until I got on the net.

I always though that if you are on a date, you are "there"..... you should be having fun and enjoying the moment.......... why all this neediness and worry about another date, I just don't get it? I always thought relationships were built on the date, moment-to-moment............ would somebody please explain the mentality?

If you and the person you are with are already interested in seeing eachother again, why is that a bad thing?

Oh Gary, your naivete is adorable :p

Although I agree that focusing on the date at hand is important, asking for a second date before the first date ends is the new norm and just plain thoughtful.

It's no secret that the majority of people use OLD anymore. That means that not only are people getting a plethora of tempting options at their finger tips but all those choices makes for some seriously stiff competition. It would only stand to reason to strike while the iron's hot!

If you like each other, are having a great time together, enjoy each other's company and intend to ask for a second date anyway, why the hell would you wait?

Speaking as a woman, I appreciate it very much.

Why do people ask what other people choose to do that in no way effects them?

This subject has nothing to do with OLD. Second date discussions happen on first dates regardless of their source.
