What Does It Mean for A Guy To have "Strong" Feelings for A Woman?

I keep getting conflicting thoughts.

When a guy has strong feelings for a female, does it mean he's really serious about her, could possibly love/fall in love with her, and wants more?

Or

Does it mean he doesn't really see his relationship with her going anywhere serious, but likes her a little more than all/most women he's ever been involved with? Like there's just something about her that makes him fancy her better than the rest?

People define words differently.

In my life, those words mean, under the correct circumstances and with mutual feelings, that particular lady could be my wife. That happened, once. Correct circumstances would be each of us unfettered by other relationships and mutual feelings would mean she felt the same way about myself. IME, exceedingly rare, mainly the first part.

It's relative, and can mean something slightly different from person to person. It can mean any of those things.

What are you hoping it means, if I can ask?

i think if you look at it if a guy says to a woman "i have strong feelings for you" he is emphasising the feelings he has are important and mean something to him......deb

It's a very good thing but the context matters. (Some slimebuckets try to make themselves look like less of a slimebucket by adding this, so be aware of that.)

Well, I haven't exactly had a guy tell me this, but, if one did, I think any girl would want it to mean that he wasn't just some creep trying to get/stay in her pants with no plans to ever commit. That he was somewhere near love territory/falling in love, or hoped to make her his wife one day...something along those lines, I guess.

Sounds to me like it mostly means the guy is a player and doesn't take the girl seriously.

Any guy that was serious about me said "I like you ALOT __my full name here_____"

I was also told he could be in a state of confusion. As in he is not sure if he wants to get serious or not.

It could mean absolutely anything, he may be completely besotted, he may be unsure or he may just want to get into her pants. Who knows it depends on the guy and their relationship.

"I have strong feelings for you, so strong, I want to marry you."

"I do not love you yet, but I do have very strong feelings for you."

"Of course, I have strong feelings for you, I'm here, aren't I? Should I wear a condom?"

Don't worry about his words. Look at his actions.

If I have strong feelings for someone, that means I want to be exclusive with her and am looking towards the future with her in some way. Can be scary when that happens.

I had strong feelings for my ex. It's been hard for me to date any guys since my ex. Like I'll give myself a max of 5+ dates with a guy since I know I was hurt with my ex. I'll generally be honest at the beginning saying that I still had feelings for my ex. While I'd never get back with my ex he was the first guy I saw a future with (he moved to my home town and transferred colleges).

This other guy I've had feelings for the Mr. Big guy. He dated a girl in Australia he has strong feelings for. He's even debated on going back to Australia (he's never said it was for her, but I wasn't born yesterday). We tried to have a date and drink wine. It was awful because he still says he has "strong feelings" for her. This was his first long term and consistent relation.

Have to watch out for the "strong feelings" crap.

Actions and words should match. If he says he has strong feelings, you will know if that's true by how he dates you. And, he could have strong feelings for you, but only wants to sleep with you and that will be clear in the way he dates you as well . . .

Ok, so what I gather from all of the responses is that it can go either way.
