Sometimes I don't even want to date because of that. With all the crazy people out there.

No I find them entertaining. It's all part of the adventure.

Even if they are trying to kill you? (I.e. dates from hell). You sort of have a twisted mind. Girls got stabbed on that show.

Nah, a lifetime of generally positive dating experiences that would never make a TV show and would have the Nielsen meter in the crickets range has left me with no fears about dating. No interest in dating but not because of any fear.

Most of those reality shows are scripted, with amateur actors who are coached. In other words, it's fake.

I take them as seriously as I take the tooth fairy.

I've literally never had dating experiences like the ones they show on tv shows like that so I can't say it scares me just because I haven't encountered something like that ... yet :D

and yes a lot of it is very much staged and fake

Sportygirl.

Do you like donkeys?

Would you stroke a donkey?

Do you like dogs?

Would you stroke a dog?

FACT - You are far more likely to be killed by donkey kick or dog mauling than by meeting the 99.99% of perfectly normal men that try to meet women through internet dating.

TV is NOT reality!!! Its a very small slice of the very worst of human nature.

I have had disaster dates... I have been the cause of some chaps disaster date stories!

Go out and live...

That's like saying you won't fly on an airplane because you saw a disaster movie, or you won't go on a bus because you watched Speed, or you won't go to LA because you watched 24 and they set off a nuke.

That kind of thing shows the vast, vast minority of cases. That is why they end up on TV. If it happened to lots of people then they wouldn't make the news. And yeah, they're mostly all fake with actors anyway although some are based on true stories. There are far more likely things that could happen to you, like being bitten by a snake.

Yes take sensible precautions (meet in public places, don't get into strangers cars etc) but don't be overly paranoid.

i think if you really know someone well before you date them you have less risk of meeting hannibal the cannibal...but then in the movie hannibal was actually quite charming till he ripped their heads off.....i am a horror movie buff.......seen so many scary movies and i still can walk in the night in alley ways, near dark water and by myself.....in spite of watching jaws many times i was able to swim at night in the ocean...there would have been sharks in the water...it was a known shark beach........and I still live with both my legs intact......which really was quite stupid...but anyways what i am trying say is....no matter what you watch or what you have happened in your own life....you have to live more in the now than then....

you can live in fear and remain in one spot ...or you can be cautious where you step and keep steppin...and i personally like steppin...you have more worries about dying from a mosquito bite than a shark funnily enough.....and being murdered and taken for a ride in a boot of a car is far less likely statistically, than being in a head on two car pile up...people still drive regardless of that fact maybe they just drive a little more carefully when they remember cars kill people.......and come to a stop when the traffic light turns red or maybe use pedestrian crossings instead of doing the jay walk......in that frame of thinking

just be careful and know the guy you date well enough to feel safe in his presence....trust your instincts that little voice that whispers to you nah something aint right.forget the tv show...we were given instincts for a reason.....use them....and live your life in spite of fear.best wishes......deb

Stop watching TV and get out there in the real world. Experience your life and learn for yourself. You should be careful and use common sense when dating people but don't project "reality tv" mentality into it.
