finalendeavor
I know I'm rather young so my input doesn't stem from oodles of experience, but I don't think there's a thing wrong with just having acquaintances and living a slightly more "loner" lifestyle; I think it works for certain people and certain personality types. I was never one to have many friends or "besties" growing up, as I've always moved around and had a hard time really connecting with most people. I used to resent this, but I've grown to like it, as it gives me time to expand on my own interests, etc. I still have people I can connect with on a more shallow basis to go out with occasionally, but that's about it, and I've been happy with it. And it is ridiculously tiresome to constantly put more in than you get out. I'm reading a book that sort of discusses this topic; it's called "Party of One". You might find it interesting; it's proved to be a pretty good read.
