We hanged out the weekend before Fourth of July and everything was good. He texted me the next day saying it was good seeing me and we texted. He texted me few more times leading up to Fourth of July. The night of July 4th, he texted me. Here is the text convo: Him: What are you up to? Me: I'm about to sleep. What are you doing? Him: Lol... a little crazy.. but I'm in Japan :) Me: What?! Lol how did you end up there? Him: I'm here with a friend on a business trip Me: For your acting? Him: I have a friend who is starting an electronics company here Me: Sounds cool but risky. Are you doing any touristy things? Him: A little. Mostly business stuff though Me: Are you there for a while? Him: Yea, prob 2 months Me: What?! Are you skipping school? Him: No, I'll be back in Sept Me: Weren't you taking summer classes? Him: Just finished them last week Me: Oh so it's like a long vacation haha. Where are you staying? This conversation was three weeks ago on July 4th. And I haven't heard from him. So he won't be back in town until September. Is it ok to text him to see how he is doing in Japan?

IF you're simply interested in knowing how an acquaintance that you haven't heard from for awhile is doing. If you're doing it because you feel he owes you an explanation as to why he hasn't contacted you for 3 weeks and/or an explanation as to why he took up and left the country for a couple of months after going out for 2 weeks, then no...I'd say it's NOT OK.
