Jet96 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Is it being racist if you like every race of guys except black guys even guys that are mixed with black?
stillafool Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Not at all. Everyone is entitled to their preference. BTW, I'm black and so are both my parents.
TB Rhine Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I think it depends on your reasons for the preference. You can't be faulted for being physically attracted to this or not physically attracted to that; but for all we know the next part of your sentence might have been "I don't like black men because they're just so scuzzy and criminal-y!" or something to that effect. (Yes, believe it or not, in some hypothetical universes factors OTHER than pure physical appearance can have an impact on attraction, or lack thereof). I think you should interrogate yourself a bit on your attitudes toward black men in general. If you have absolutely NO other prejudices or bad opinions of them, I'd be inclined to say it's just a physical preference. If you find you have some unkind notions about them lurking below the surface, however, it may be that the lack of attraction is (perhaps unconsciously) based on deeper beliefs about their character and suitability as mates.
loverboy69 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 It's not racist it's a preference. You are allowed this. But I've even read online dating ads from Asian or Black men who only want to date white or latino. In certain situations it could be a case of preference mixed with self deprecation. This is caused by growing up only thinking that the lighter skinned races are beautiful. I prefer white or latin men myself and I'm a mixture of both.
DaisyBug Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 No, it's just a type of look you don't prefer. I never used to be attracted to guys from India, even though the Indian people are awesome, and I never questioned myself about it as being racist. (It's a different story now. I do find some attractive.) Either way, it's really no one else's business if you don't find a certain look attractive. 1
