My immediate family knows I am divorcing him but I never told my extended family. I'm not looking forward to all the questions. Ugh! I was thinking of just saying he was home sick with a virus but I know I have to get this over with. Wish me luck.
Ariess10 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I wasn't married but dated my ex for 3 years , we broke up 4 months ago and when we were together I bought a cabin , we went to the bars there a lot and got to know the locals very well. When we broke up I knew I was gonna get hit with "where's your better half" so I talked to my therapist and she told me "just say things didn't work out , we're not together" .. Guess what ? It was that simple and now no one asks me nor did they want more .. Now I know family and divorce is different , but I think if you keep it simple and to the point people will pick up on that you really don't wanna talk about it 1
Learningtowalkagain Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Yes, short and sweet. "We're not together anymore". People shouldn't follow up that question if they're smart but if you start going into detail they're going to become nosy. Keep it short, brief, and move on. 1
