This is kind of a two part question. I'll start with my story. I was on vacation and met someone and we hooked up. Not to mention this is the first time I've ever had sex with a complete stranger, so I already feel like I don't know the protocol. Ha. This person lives accross the country. He gave me his number when we parted ways. My best friend who was with me suggested I lose his #, because of the circumstances, but I ended up texting him anyway. We've talked some and I added him on snapchat, which he added me right back. On Facebook a few days ago he came up as a suggested friend and I thought about adding him, but it feels a little weird. I don't want to come across as some like crazy stalker type. I do really enjoy talking to him and social media is a very convenient way to stay in touch with people. His profile has it so you can't send him friend requests so I'd have to message him to add me. That feels really desperate. I guess this makes me wonder, in a general sense, at what point when dating (not saying I'm dating this person) is it appropriate to be friends on social media? More in relation to my circumstances, would you ever add a one night stand type encounter on social media?

Why such overly complicated thoughts about something simple. Add/request, talk, done. All these thoughts about being desperate, adding a one night stand, not having done before, just seem like pointless and unnecessary concerns. No one is going to care, no let me rephrase that, no sane person will give one fudge what you do. It's your life, stop overthinking simple things, if you are afraid of people judging you, then you are going to live a life in constant fear (many people do) which is unfortunate but also just such a waste of energy. Nothing wrong with two people enjoying each other, regardless if it'll lead to something more or not, it's a part of your life and experience.

I don't get it.

You'll share the most intimate part of yourself with a complete stranger, but you're not sure if you're 'overstepping' by sending him a friend request on Facebook?

I repeat - I don't get it.
