RedRobin Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 After years of languishing in the dating/relationship 'desert' for women known as the U.S Northeast (New York to be specific)... and casually or not so casually looking for opportunities to escape while not killing my career... I finally got my wish!! Found a great position in the Seattle area. Just checked the census data. At least 116 men for 100 women. Go me! 13
mrldii Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Ha-ha, OP!!! Congrats! You're gonna die if you check into the currently-running thread about 'Cities With the Best Looking Men'; according to the cited article, Seattle ranks #1!!! When you get there, toss some of your throw-aways down south a-ways, would ya??? 1
Clarence_Boddicker Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 You forget that there's a lot of lesbians up in the PNW. 1
d0nnivain Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I never saw the NYC area as a dating dessert. To me it always felt more like a candy store. Seattle on the other hand is not a city I find comfortable at all. The weather is miserable. Every time I have to go there for more than 1 week I practically feel suicidal . . .grey & rain, grey & rain. . . ugh. Those volcano evacuation routes also freak me out. I don't know how old you are but to me Seattle is a young city, everybody seemed to be in their 20s. I felt ancient NYC is a mix of everybody. Since it's your dream, I do wish you the best! Enjoy your move. Have fun reinventing yourself & I do hope you find the man of your dreams. Just do your research before you end up 3,000 miles from home & even more unhappy.

I live Upstate (the OTHER New York). As it turns out, Seattle only has 10 more overcast days per year than New York. Problem is that they get it all mostly in winter. Summers are amazing there! I've been there many times. Was born and raised until HS in CA and have relatives all along the Northwest coast. The lifestyle, the culture... Everything about the NW coast appeals to me. Heck, even my dog is allowed to ride the bus there. Around here? Sure, there were men. Either fat, in some kind of rehab, or character challenged. That's what you get when you (the woman) have to duke it out with 10 other women to get a decent guy. No more. Getting the f*ck out of here, the sh*tty economy of NY and crazy taxes. I didn't do my research before coming to NY.. And even then, I had my fiancée so it wasn't so bad. Yes, it is younger in Seattle. Doesn't bother me. I'm around younger people all the time. Anyway, the odds are in my favor finally.
d0nnivain Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 RedRobin Your follow post put my mind at ease (not that my thoughts should influence your decision) but it sounds more like you will be better off & happier there. It's a better fit for you. Enjoy & best wishes on your new adventure. 1
mrldii Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 ... Anyway, the odds are in my favor finally. And apparently, continuing to skyrocket in your favor, since an earlier poster pointed out 'there's a lot of lesbians there'!!! Mo' men for youuuuuuu, OP!!! 2
