darkmoon Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 just realized that when i see marriages where a partner has an affair, the situation gets different reactions than couples who live together and one of them has an affair any thoughts?
casey.lives Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 for me living together is a half hearted attempt at marriage so naturally an affair may ensue and too.. it's not a big deal because you break up and move on. simple..
Toodaloo Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 Its easier to deal (practically) with breaking up if you do not have that legal contract. I also question people who do not get married but live together for long periods of time. I only know one couple that has sort of worked for... They are not overly happy about it and it does cause issues in an otherwise great relationship. At the back of my mind though I am waiting for him to leave her. When people get married they make a commitment... Those who have not done that well they haven't made the commitment...
Radu Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 just realized that when i see marriages where a partner has an affair, the situation gets different reactions than couples who live together and one of them has an affair any thoughts? Because it's much harder to get out of a marriage ... all the BS about union in front of God, it's a legal contract now and probably the biggest contract you will ever enter in.
Got it Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I think this discussion is showing to be very US-centric as common law marriages are very popular/norm in Europe and other countries.
Author darkmoon Posted July 17, 2015 Author Posted July 17, 2015 I think this discussion is showing to be very US-centric as common law marriages are very popular/norm in Europe and other countries. common law in this matter is a myth, there is no extra bit of UK law to protect live-ins, but please show us the statute in a link if this is true
