loveflower Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 I have nice size and shape in the hip area...but every pair of jean just too long. I have some very Very beautiful jeans and excellent quality, but they all required hemming...how do you just cut those beautiful jeans? so depressing...if my legs just could be a few inches longer, those jeans will look just perfect on me...
regine_phalange Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Mine too. They make them long just in case. I get all my pants and sometimes skirts to the seamstress. Not only for the length but for the waist also. Sometimes I buy 3/4 pants and they fall right above my toes. Don't tell anyone that they're not supposed to be full length.
AppleKakes Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Just curious... The so-called "petite" clothing doesn't work for you? Maybe buying "Junior" clothing and/or kid's clothing might be something you wanna look into? I mean, I buy "Junior" clothing at times cuz "women's" clothing isn't cool sometimes...But I usually have to get a XL/bigger size in Juniors cuz I'm a woman.
Author loveflower Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 I think Banana Republic is the only place that offer 'petite' clothing. Nowaday I buy most of my clothing from BR. the pants there fit me fine with some heels. but it doesn't really have any good selections of jeans. I love the fit and style of Guess jeans, besides the length... and I ordered some online from other brands, because I can't help it, they are just too beautiful and stylish...so a pair I ordered online just arrived today. I tried it one...so perfect...of course, again, except the length. I think most jean companies just make jeans for perfect height women. HATE it! Junior clothing don't fit me in style and shape.
Author loveflower Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 I will look just fantastic in those jeans...if only my legs were a few inches longer:sick:
Got it Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Ann Taylor, Loft, White House Black Market, etc. all have petites (online at least). Those are just off the top of my head.
preraph Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 You have the wrong attitude about this. Clothing manufacturers can't possibly make clothes to fit even MOST people. Very few people can just buy clothes off the rack that truly fit properly. I don't consider 5'7" very tall, but that's how tall I am, and I've only once found a pair of woman's jeans that were long enough (my legs are longer than most 5'7" I guess). I have never found a pair of pants that were fitted in the waist that fit me, and that is whether I was a size 10 or a size 26 at the time. I always had to buy huge pants so the waist fit and then have a whole lot of the leg taken out and then length adjusted. I quit even trying. Now I wear elastic waists and try to find skinny legs, and last year was the first time I even found those that are ALMOST long enough. Do not let clothes make you feel inferior. It's the clothing manufacturers that are doing one size fits all who are to blame. They basically want their clothes on perfect thin people because to them, that's the best advertisement. But hardly anyone who isn't a teenager doesn't need some tailoring to wear anything that is the least bit fitted. Find a tailor or cleaner who hems cheap and just do it. Or learn to do it yourself. It isn't that hard. You can even do it with just hem tape and a hot iron and some scissors. I have to take every pair of shoes I buy to the cobbler before I can even wear them to have arches installed. It's just the way it is. I don't feel like my feet are freakish because of that. I just feel like shoes are made too cheaply these days. 4
hotpotato Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Jcpenney has a,petite section. Im willing to bet places like dillards and stein mart do too.
preraph Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Even though I am long-limbed, tall pants usually don't work on me because they're way too long in the crotch. What fits me best are petite capris (because they don't need to have the length and fit me in the crotch). And I'm tall and big. So even petites don't work for everyone who's short depending on where they take up the length from. 1
lollipopspot Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 What a pleasant surprise that this isn't a short guy thread! 4
Clarence_Boddicker Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limb_lengthening_methods I've heard it's easy to get done in Asia for cosmetic purposes.

Author loveflower Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 OMG... the problem is if I get it done, will I still be able to snowboarding, skiing, rollerblading, etc...? I don't think so my legs are short, but seems quite functional
lollipopspot Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 my legs are short, but seems quite functional Well then you're luckier than some, despite the shortness. I'd rather have functional short legs than painful long ones. Be glad for that. We're all guilty of it, but generally people would rather complain about their curses than count their blessings. 1
Clarence_Boddicker Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 I wasn't being serious, but if you had it done you should have full use of your legs if everything goes right, once the ligaments, muscles & tendons grow to match the longer lengths. I had a very nasty fractured femur from a car crash & it was fixed with internal fixation, which means the femur is drilled out & a titanium rod called a femoral nail is pounded in the hole in the femur.
