Did she really care , or was I the He's a really nice guy but....

Sort of of a long story so Thank you in advance for those of you who take the time to read the whole thing .

Linda and I became friends soon after she started work as a hostess at the Restaurant I work at .we talked most day and it wasn't long before I worked up the courage to ask her out to A Christian Concert . I was a little nervous because she was in a sorority and at Texas Tech the Chi- Omegas

were sort of known as a partiers , I was known at work as the really sweet Christian .

But she said yes with out any hesitation and we had a good time .After the concert we were milling around taking to people and I would introduce her to friends of mine . After a while she saw someone she knew and the talked for about ten minutes , during this time I thought she would introduce me to her friend but she never did ( Am I reading to much into that ) but right after excitedly told me who she was and where she knew her .

The following week I invited her to church and she said yes , once again with out any hesitation but stipulated that she had to work lunch so we would have to go to an early service .

For the next two weeks we followed the same routine , she seemed to enjoy Church .

 

Now the story takes a twist , after the third week two girls who are my best work buddies came up to me during my shift and told me they needed to talk to me about Linda .

I was a little excited because I thought I was going to get the she's really into you speech , what I got instead left me as sad as I have been in awhile .

 

It was at this time that they told me that the three of them had been talking about me , they than informed me that Linda wanted them to tell me what she had to say because she liked me and really didn't want to hurt me . ( OK Linda is the sweetest person on earth is always nice and kind to everyone she knows , I feel she should have talked to me in person instead of having Kristy and Carla do it .)

 

I was than told that Linda had told them she didn't want a boyfriend right now.

They than told me that the reason she didn't want one is that she had to focus on school and her sorority and was trying to get her associates degree for physical therapy and that would take up Hugh amounts of her free time , she told them that she did like me and thought I was really sweet . ( MY thought looking back is that at least she didn't give them the .......He's a nice guy but I only like him as a friend speech )

I left for another job and soon afterward and never worked with her after that .

That was that until about 6 months later hen that restaurant started a softball team and asked me to play on it . During the first practice Linda was there , when she saw me I was greeted by a I'm glad to see you smile and she initiated the conversation . She asked how I was doing , but not if I was seeing someone , The conversation always went back to how busy she was . Also when we paired up to warm up she asked me to be her partner . I feel that had she considered me just a friend she would not have done this , knowing how I felt about her and not wanting to give any indication she was leading me on . Once again might have read to much into this . I did ask her if the glove was a boyfriends ( sort of fishing for information if she was seeing someone ) she said no one she had already . Should I have read anything into the fact she didn't say she didn't have one . Anyway after practice I left in a hurry with out talking to her , when I drove past her she looked sad . I would have stopped and talked to her but thought I would see her next week so went on my way . The next week that

she was not at practice and overheard last week was her last at work .

I never went by her house to talk with her because If I was the Just a friend guy I didn't want to be there . That's a nice way of saying not interested and I didn't want her to think ...what are you doing here .

I had a friend go by to give her a birthday card and he told me she had moved .

I have not seen her since and now have no way of reaching her .

 

So I am left to wonder , did she even care for me a little and was truly busy, or did I get a fancier version of " I like him but he's just a friend blow off .
