Your sending him a message that confirms your interest in him. Guys like that. It's going overboard, like giving a gift now, that would/could be an issue. If there wasn't a second date scheduled though, I wouldn't say this.

Weak and lame - do it regardless of whether or not he texts you - what's the harm if you're actually interested? It could definitely come across as not caring if you don't ...although not a huge deal if you've only met him once. In contrast to what at least one other has said - I think a cheap, dorky gift could be fun as well...think $5 kind of thing...
