Rajaâ Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I live in Morocco and i lived in the US for almost a year in this exchange program, i had the best experience and i met this guy there, he was super nice to me and i felt comfortable being with him, and during our relationship he was talking about how serious he was and that he wanted marriage to be the end of this relation. then my time to go back home was near (almost 3 months left) and as he was aware of that he was asking me constantly to go see a lawyer and do what we can to extend my visa in order to stay longer in America and marry him. now when i told my family and friends back home they all got super excited about the idea, but i couldn't swallow what was happening. THAT was marriage, a very very serious step to take and i couldn't just accept to do this and marry him just to stay in America (which so many of the people i know advised me to do) but i couldn't, i wasn't in love with him, at least not yet so eventually he sensed my coldness towards the idea and we kinda broke up without saying the words. i returned home and i did not regret my decision at all because i knew i did the right thing for myself and also for him ( i wouldn't deceive the guy that loved me for residency papers, because i know it's wrong and i know that karma is...you know ! and it will bite me back sooner or later) Recently i am having these dreams of me and him hanging out, holding hands like we used to do and having so much fun, and my mind won't stop thinking of him, i don(t really know what to do, i'm sure he's moved on and i don't even know if i want a second chance or no i just want to know if what i'm going through now is love or missing or what exactly !? Grumpybutfun Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Hi. You did the right thing. Marrying for anything other than love and commitment after a long engagement is not acceptable. Stay in touch and if something is meant to come of this relationship, it will happen organically. Best, Grumps 2
