Radu Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 There's a thread about a POS judge right now in the Off-Topic section that got me thinking. When someone does something bad, there are punitive measures in place. If they come forward and offer this information, leniency is given [and expected], if they are caught doing the act instead of coming forward, they still have the option of acting 'right' for reduced punitive action. By 'right' i mean, admitting to it, showing remorse, etc ... but it's not limited to this. Much of this 'right' is actually the domain of defense attorneys and PR ppl. Knowing how these ppl work and how they make a living, why do we still accept this show they put on for us when it's obviously so damn fake ? Are we rewarding 'acting right' or just plain rewarding not taking up the time of the justice system ? Aren't these ppl literally gaming the system ?; and if they are ... why are we so quick to forgive them ? Do we as society gain enough from them gaming the system with lawyers and PR ppl that we should turn a blind eye to this ? PS: Read the above questions as both applying in the realms of all interpersonal relationships ... and that includes the romantic ones. That is why i chose this subforum.
