It's been over 7 months since I've seen this guy that I'm smitten with. There's no contact between us. I am still thinking about him. It's really weird. Usually, within 6 months I can get over someone. I am seeing other people, but always in the back of mind I wonder what it's like to be dating him.

What things have you done to forget about someone?

How long did it take you?

Appreciate your input.

I'm starting to notice a common thread about these "crush" situations and even Jerry Springer had a great "Final Thought" on this issue. I can't recall his exact words, but I'll try to explain...

I think these "crush" things get drawn out cuz the parties have not dealt with the ghost/spirit (in these cases aka "crush") so the ghost/spirit can be set free.

The object of their desire aka "crush" is someone they sit in the shadows and idolize. They watch them date others, stand by their side as the "friend" waiting for his/her turn at the crush - instead of laying it all out on the table and be like "I like you, wanna date?"

If they'd simply step up to the plate and dealt with their ghost/spirit/crush, then they'd either get an "ok" or a "no way" from the crush and thus releasing the ghost/spirit/crush and move on.

Shoot, even if the crush gives them an "ok" and they start "engaging" the crush instead of idolizing them from a distance they may now be able to objectively assess their attraction/interest/desire/obsession for the crush and realize the crush wasn't all that. I mean the crush could have body odor, bad teeth, bad taste in music for heaven's sake.

Check out those movies/shows about ghosts/spirits that go through so much heck speaking to the living - like the movie Gothika. The ghost/spirit is trying to tell you something and once it gets it's message across (ie revealing who killed them) then it is released to rest in its grave, in heaven/hell or wherever. Same thing with crushes...step up to the plate and engage them so you can find out about them and set yourself free.
