I vote yes it is a good idea to bring condomns on the first date and every date. While it is unlikely that I'm going to have sex on the first date it is better to play it safe with preparation. If nothing happens then I haven't really lost anything by having condomns available. I can simply put them back in the house after getting home from the date. But what if an unlikely sex episode did materalize and she wanted it the first date and I succumb to temptation to take her up on her offer? Do I really want to take time out of my date to drive to the nearest Walmart or wherever they sell condomns to go buy some? No. Depending on where we go for a first date the nearest place where they sell condomns may be a 1/2 hour to 45 minute drive. That's too much time to waste on a date when I could have saved that time by getting the condoms ready before the date.

Whether women get turned off by it or not is a moot point because it is not like I have to make a point to tell them I have condomns with me. I can be discreet about it. There are cool dry places in the trunk of my car to hide it. It is not like she is going to search my car.

Carrying condomns doesn't mean I am anticipating sex to happen. I treat condomns like preparing for emergencies however unlikely to be. Do folks who purchase fire insurance on their home anticipate a fire? Probably not. They don't think about it that often but they have the peace of mind knowing that they have protection to fall back on in case of a fire even if it is unlikely.

Same reason it is a good idea to get annual checkups with the doctor. It doesn't mean anyone anticipates getting cancer but the reality is that cancer can happen to anyone regardless of family history or lifestyle. It is a disease we don't know much about and have little control over although there are greater risk factors. An annual checkup helps catch anything suspicious early rather thsn late.

Most cars carry a spare tire and it is good to have one even though most of us don't get into the car anticipating a flat tire at any moment. However if it does happen we have backup to deal with it.

I personally prefer to take it slow with the sex department but I never know when I will fall into temptation to break my own rules such as if she puts the offer on the table on date 1 or date 2. If I am going to break my own rules might as well make the best of it by preparing for backup.

It's just planning. How will she know anyway if you don't tell her?

In college right after the AIDS epidemic broke out all the Greeks on campus appointed somebody to be safe sex chair. That person always had at least a dozen condoms & as the sorority chair I knew who my counterpart was at the various fraternities. Sisters could ask me for condoms & if I ran out I could get more from my counterpart without having any stigma attached to my request.

Better safe then sorry plus if the mood strikes who wants to get up & go to the store for the at God knows what hour.

Exactly. Having a condom in your wallet behind the driver's license :) ? Good thinking? Taking it out, waving it around, and saying "Just in case" with a wink? Um...no

Why not but don't tell her just keep them in your clove box in the car.

The trunk is better as she would have no reason to look in there anyway. You might have to reach in the clove box for something else and then she sees the condoms.

Keeping condoms in a wallet - worst a glovebox or trunk of a car makes those condoms susceptible to heat damage. Don't forget to take a good look at them if you ever decide to use them - to make sure they aren't dry, sticky, etc. Also, check the expiration date.

I have these cute little condom carriers that I bought years ago. They look so sheek and cool. Really, you can't tell if it's a make-up case or something else :)

If you keep them in a cooler in the trunk they should be fine.
