chexmix Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Hi everyone -- So soon-to-be 54 year old me has started making small forays into dating again, mostly through OKCupid. Last night, however, I asked out a coworker (DISCLAIMER: I am fully aware of the dangers and drawbacks of this) with whom I've been friends for some time and to whom I am attracted. She sent a very nice response which boiled down to "I'm flattered, but I'm pretty much single on purpose." The thing is ... same here! I'm not at all sure I want to attempt another serious relationship -- I've been married and divorced twice. BUT I miss women and, not to put too fine a point on it, sex and intimacy and all that stuff. I'd like to experience it again before it all becomes, well, impossible or something. I'm not sure what to do. I've gone so far as to check into how much I'd have to PAY for sex, and it's pretty clear that 1) it's beyond my means and 2) I'm not sure how I feel about it, anyway (I don't have problems with it morally ... just ... sigh). Do I need to seek out polyamorous people? Or ... ? Clueless and lonely, Glenn
mg101 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 How long have you been online dating? Give it a real chance before you go the hooker route.
PogoStick Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Um, what? How about you just go on some dates, have a few too many drinks and take the girl home. She wants it too you know?
Author chexmix Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 How long have you been online dating? Give it a real chance before you go the hooker route. I've been doing this off and on for many years. I've had some quite nice times. The issue is not online dating, per se -- it's more a "I want to meet women, perhaps have some fun in the autumn of my life but not go directly (or even ever) to a COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP" since that way madness and sadness lie. The majority of people seem to be searching for long-term things.
