if a guy says he just wants to date but nothing serious, it's best to not even start dating the guy if I'm looking for a real committed relationship? :/

I always think that maybe they'll want to commit if they date me for a while but you're right:(

Yep. If you two aren't on the same page right now in terms of dating goals, you move on. If you go into this hoping for a relationship and thinking he will change his mind because it's you, you will be stringing yourself along and setting yourself up for being hurt. And, then you will be angry with him and calling him a jerk because you weren't focused on your own needs.

A guy with halfway decent intuition would never say that to a woman he found attractive in fear of scaring her off - unless it was true.

You can hold a man, but he has to have the right attitude first - that means he has to be mature and want monogamy.

By the way, some people think monogamy is a type of wood!

Yes exactly:(I always start dating guys who I know don't want commitment and I get so invested and they just break my heart:/

never go into an involvement with "renovation project" on your agenda.

You want "move in/turn key ready", not a "fixer-upper".

"I just want to date, nothing serious" = "Just looking for a hole, ma'am."

You should also avoid walking into street traffic and avoid jumping into fire...

In case you need those clarified as well.
