Hi

So I found myself going out with my mate, his gf and her mate who i was told was looking for a guy. So we went out but right away it struck me she seemed kind of shy, we spoke a bit but were at loud venue and stuff and not much chance to properly talk.

I think she was quite nice but as I said hadn't spoke much. I asked mate's GF (A) if her mate (B) was looking to meet someone but A mentioned more that B was concentrating on her studies or something like that, then A asked a week later if I would like to go out again with them. I was kind of unsure of the situation and wondered if this might just be general socialising or perhaps they are hoping we might end up going out.

Any thoughts as my mate had said she was looking and stuff, so obviously he's heard that from his GF.

I think it is for more than socializing. B likely needs to move VERY slowly (shy). It is not surprising that A would say something like B is focusing more on studying when B is actually looking for a BF. It serves multiple purposes. For instance, it would make B more comfortable around you if she thinks that you don't know you are there for the same reason she is and are looking for a GF (she is shy). I would not call A a liar, as she is not trying to deceive you.

There is the possibility that B did not actually like you and she told A that she is focusing more on studying just to be nice. Not sure this is likely as you guys are going out again.

Edit: I could be wrong altogether and maybe they just want to hand out. I would put my money on paragraph 1 though. And yes, I am a betting man :)

I think you're probably right in that B is wanting to take it slow as she has apparently lived quite a non-sociable life so far, I'd heard that she never really went out and was very close to her family so she is probably not one to jump into anything. Fine with me I just couldn't figure out if she was interested and B is probably guarding her mate so I don't move to quick and make a mistake.
