Why I stopped feeling anything for him after confessing having feelings ?

I ll keep it short ,I started seeing this guy whom I had a sexual fling before ,we had a couple of great conversations and thought it was going in the right direction,since I had feelings for him for a long time I (stupidly) let it out and he gave me the patronizing "you re attractive great BUUT" speech ,claiming wasn't ready for it needed to focus on work yadaya . We ended up having what I call cold sex and that was the end of that .

It s really odd ..since I spilled out the beans I actually don't feel anything towards him anymore ,I feel I perhaps idealised him and the rejection kind of put an RIP cross over it . I care for him as a person but i don't want a relationship with him anymore . I seriously completely switched . It never happened to me before .

How does this happen?
