many women say they prefer beards. a few say they like clean shaven. everybody today says real men grow beards, only boys are clean shaven, weak men shave, etc. which i kinda laugh at. seems like you can be a real man without hair on your face. nothing against it, i just prefer to shave when i go out.

i normally stay clean shaven and i have short side burns. but this week i havent shaved at all, so ill just trim and leave it to see what happens.

whats with this silly trend? why would a female look at a man and think hes strong with facial hair but weak when shaven?

Where are you getting this? I won't deny that beards are trendy but I have never heard these judgments about a man's masculinity hinging on his beard or lack thereof. Who do you hang out with, D&D dwarves??

Also, with your constant mention of feeeeemales in your posts, I visualize you as a Ferengi.

I prefer clean shaven.

I explored this 'hair' mentality, partially, in this thread....

No you weren't. Your "questions" are loaded, usually about how females are just so mean and unreasonable toward you.

But because you asked, I shall answer your questions.

"whats with this silly trend?"

I don't know why beards are so "in" right now. They are ok, but not my cup of tea. However, I wouldn't NOT date a man with a beard.

"why would a female look at a man and think hes strong with facial hair but weak when shaven?"

I don't? No women I know have expressed this viewpoint? In fact more women I know don't seem to like beards, but it has nothing to do with masculinity. And I know plenty of bearded men who have had lots of girlfriends, including my own brother!

lmao everybody says real men grow beards? when have you EVER heard someone actually say that?

I don't like beards. they scream hipster or lumberjack to me. Neither of which I find attractive. A little stubble is sexy, though.

( I love beards... my ex had one, and my H has a goatee... I like them.

Maybe it's because it's a sign of one thing men can do that women can't....)

Most men I know, including my bf, are clean shaven for their careers. I think it's generally considered more professional/put together.

I've never heard it either. I like stubble btw. :)

I'm not sure that applies as much in the UK... although according to Gillette, you're only a hunky, fit, toned desirable beast, if you're totally clean-shaven.

Well thanks very much, fellers....

I think Ron Swanson and hipsters helped create this idea, but IMHO , facial hair has nothing to do with strength and one's ability to take care of me. I have felt just as safe in the arms of a clean shaven man as someone who has a grand beard.

Personally, I prefer facial hair, but I think this comes from my father and brothers all having facial hair. It's familiar to me, so I tend to be attracted to men with beards. Heck, it may be the one redeeming quality of my ex! Just kidding!

If you are concerned about people perceive you, perhaps look at other factors in your life outside of just the physical being. Crazy as it seems, others can pick up on insecurities that are trying to be hidden, so facial hair doesn't matter.

The best thing to do is grow the beard and date the women who like it.

Then shave it off and date the women who like you clean-shaven. There's a boo-boo for every seat. Ya gotta work it, mang!

He said "female" once. I don't get where you deem that as constant, toscaroscura?

Mongo, I personally don't mind goatee's, soul patches or clean shaven, but do not like full beards Especially, long ones. Never ever thought that a man wasn't manly if he didn't have a beard. That's just crazy talk LOL stay away from those types of people ;)

On the vast majority of guys, clean shaven looks far better. Some guys with particularly weak chins look better with a well trimmed beard.

Those hipster lumberjack beards are a definite deal killer for me. It's one of the few aesthetics that really affects me negatively. Most my female friends despise them with a fiery fervor. I always had the impression it's more guys egging other guys on for the popularity that fad has enjoyed.

I mean, men should do what they want on their faces. It's not my place to create demands on another person's body. I simply find it actively unattractive.

It really depends on the man, and the woman, the type of beard, and personal preference.

Some men have what's called a "weak chin" and facial hair helps immensely with this situation.

I personally prefer either clean-shaven men, or men with short, well-groomed beards. I don't like messy, I don't like shaggy, and I don't like full beards. Other women may only like clean-shaven, while others might actually love a shaggy beard on a guy.

Do a Bearded Lady. You'll have the best of both worlds.

I've had just about every configuration imaginable (save for a 'stache), and rock a proper beard these days.

It's all good, just some variety in an oft bland world. No need to hate either way. Being an elitist is unbecoming no matter how you roll.

I LOVE a man with some kind of facial hair be it stubble or full on beard and everything in between. It's not a deal breaker of course, just a serious preference.

I just love scruff.:love: I'm not at all fond of clean shaven, or beards. Things like goatees are ok for me, but with scruff! It want to feel it all over.. Just yup

I had a beard for a winter in college, back in the late 90s. Men overwhelmingly loved it. Women did not. Most women I've known since have preferred clean shaven.

I do think between men it's a sign of manhood of sorts. To women, it seems that it's either a complete turn-off deal breaker, or they don't care too much about it.

Just my experience.

I find beards to be pretty sexy on some guys. What I hate are goatees and soul patches. So, so, so , so awful.

I have a beard because I simply look better with it than clean shaven. But I also don't look that good with a full beard. A light one is what I sport and I think it works well for me.

Glad to see women in this thread appreciate the stubble look.

Heyyyyyy ladies. ;)
