VedderisBetter Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I recently started talking to a girl who lives about 90 minutes away. She is a very sweet person, at least on first impression. We have never tried long distance dating but I know it can work since my brother has made it work while he and his wife were in college. Any advice for making long distance romance work from those with experience?
d0nnivain Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 90 minutes away is not long distance. To me long distance is more than 4 hours away. You are dating somebody who is geographically inconvenient. You need to be committed to driving & be willing to meet in the middle. Grab a map & figure out fun stuff to do in the middle.
rocketman122 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 im a bit over an hour drive to my lady. about 3 years together. its the biggest barrier and causes the most stress to our relationship. I plan on moving to her city in 2 months. it will alleviate a lot of the problems we have. I didnt think itd be possible. I dated a woman for 3 weeks. 1.5 hours drive. the drive there and back wore me out. then I met my lady now and I knew I had to put that issue aside. it may not be a long distance away but its enough that you cant really be spontaneous with get togethers, things are planned and risk involved when you go out late and have to drive home and youre tired. it happened I almost fell asleep at the wheel a few times. and I drive a two wheeler. its not easy at all and u have to put in the effort.
