JiltedJane Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 First off, I know theres no concrete definition of "normal", but how long is too long to be single? I've been single now for 15 months. Granted the first 6 were by choice. I'm starting to feel like I'll never be in another relationship again though. Everyone is too busy, myself included:( Next, how many dates is the norm before exclusivity? I can get to 4-6 dates easily and then "boom" nada. Everyone else gets excited when ever I say i'm going on a 3rd or 4th date and says "omg that means something! thats good!":bunny: For me not so much.......
leavesonautumn Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 It's impossible to answer. I chose to be single for a year after a terrible relationship and it helped immensely. You might want to change your view of it though. Really, you're still making the choice to be single until you meet someone you want to be exclusive with. If you're actively searching for a LTR, then people will be able to pick up on it even if you don't realize it and it may turn them off a bit if they aren't ready. I went on a few dates with a guy last summer and he was so eager that it just scared me off even though there wasn't much "wrong" with the guy. I'm not saying that you're doing this but just to be aware of it. I also think it's important to learn to be happy alone and not settle for just anyone. I understand how you feel though, I do enjoy being in a relationship and sometimes I miss it but I'm also grateful that I get to work on myself and improve my life before I truly settle down.
