Black Cement Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 There's this girl I met online. I'm totally in to her. We've talked briefly, but I said a corny joke and now she's not responding. It was rhetorical, but Idk what to do now. I'm stuck, & would just like to get to know her better but don't know what to do....
Toodaloo Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Make some random comment that pops into your head... Sometimes we girls just don't know how to respond. Talk about your day, ask about hers, talk about food... everyone loves talking about food!

Author Black Cement Posted June 6, 2015 Author Posted June 6, 2015 What was the joke? "You should model for me, just kidding."
fitnessfan365 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 If you haven't met her in person yet, how do you know for sure that you're totally into "her"? There are people who act one way in text, email, chat, etc and are completely different in person. Reach out in a few days, say it's been fun getting to know her so far, and that you should meet in person. Then ask for her number. The ultimate goal should be to get her on a date with you to see if there is any actual chemistry. 1
d0nnivain Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 That wasn't a corny joke. It was overtly sexual & she took it that you were only interested in one thing. She didn't want that & stopped talking to. At this point you can try apologizing & asking to meet her for coffee to make it up to her & prove that you are not as crass as that comment made you sound. 1
Fhsjkfjrhsdh3646 Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Yeah that was a terrible joke lol. It's over, next!! Btw if you ever have to say just kidding to a girl you're flirting with you're doing it wrong.

You will see all over these boards that women will question a man's intent when they talk on OLD if he says anything remotely sexual when emailing or IM or text especially if they haven't met you in person yet. 1
CarrieT Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Also, rehtoric, irony, and snark is projected via voice inflections and should only ever be used in person, while actually talking to someone. Texting and writing is a HORRIBLE way to come across as funny, especially with a ubiquitous "LOL" or "just kidding" qualifier. It puts an immediate damper on a conversation. It is why is oldies heartily recommend TALKING and meeting up in person, as soon as possible. There is so much missed in a potential connection when left to just texting or writing.

What the OP said is slightly suggestive. You have a be a perfect gentleman and funny at the same time. Don't worry about it young man, everyone makes mistakes. You'll know better next time.
