purple21 Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Ok - I officially quit smoking today It has been 3 hours and 55 mins. Blah - this is hard. It will be even harder when I go home and driving home - eeks. I'm using the patch but I'm still getting cravings. I can do this.
Linlin Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Congratulations!! Keep typing here to keep you hands busy!!!
alphamale Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 congrats PURPLE21... I myself am going out rite now to smoke a fag.
Author purple21 Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Thanks Linlin - I'm planning on it - especially when I get home Alpha - smoke one for me
agnf666 Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 Good Luck Purple 21. Hopefully you will stick with quitting!!!
Debster Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 I've quit for almost seven months and still get the odd craving. Whatever you do, don't believe that it is okay to have just one. Also, warn your significant other (if you have one) that you will be crazy, grumpy and bitchy. My husband had to go through it and luckily as an ex-smoker he knew what to expect.
Author purple21 Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Thanks all Yeah - still doing ok - came home from work and took a long nap - of course the first thing I thought of when I woke up is that I need a cig - lol - then I remembered and was like oh crap this sucks The silly thing is that I have quit before but started up a year ago - May 1st - after a breakup - and yeah I bought the pack at that time for a couple and ended up smoking the whole entire thing and was a pack smoker and sometimes more since then - i was using smoking as a way to handle stress. It just was getting to a point where I was smoking wayyy tooo much. It's hard right now because I was use to chain smoking all night - lol. Oh dear. I feel better I told everyone at work because now there is no way I can cheat there without getting caught - everyone was cheering me on as I left work - it was pretty funny. I'm off to find some more gum or candy
UCFKevin Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 No one likes a quitter. Kidding. Yeah, chew a bunch of gum. Keep your mouth occupado. That tends to work well.
Author purple21 Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 thanks UCFKevin - I did make it through the night - almost broke down once - I wish smoking and french fries were good for you - that would be so cool. Yeah speaking of french fries - I kept my mouth busy eating them tonight and then had a beer for dessert - lol I let it slide tonight but I'll have to get some low cal stuff like gum and hard candy for work tomorrow - I do not want to be gaining any weight - oh boy
UCFKevin Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 My attitude? Screw it. Eat what you want when you want and stay active. I'd rather eat what I enjoy than be in misery for the rest of my life watching what I eat. Mmm. Tofu fries. Hot diggity. Let me wash that down with some low carb water while I breathe diet air.
Three of Swords Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Way to go purple! It is a tough slog - but doable. Anytime you need support - you can find it here. We are behind you/beside you.
debs Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 CONGRATS! Purple! Hang in there! Hardest part is the first 3 days!
paradox Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Well done purple!I know it's hard. But just to cheer you up my stepdad used to smoke a looot, then one day he stopped and it's not been like 15-20 years since he quit. So it IS possible.
Author purple21 Posted April 28, 2005 Author Posted April 28, 2005 UCFKevin - i like that attitude - lol Thanks Three, Debs, Paradox - I'm still smoke free - I really felt like caving tonight - but I didn't - I took another nap instead - lol - at least I'm getting well rested - I'm use to chain smoking when I'm home - I got some tootsie pops though - that will help. At work my friends go for a walk with me on my breaks instead of me spending my breaks in the butt hut. I'm definitely happy I don't have to spend any more many buying them - that is cool. The weirdest advice I've recvd so far from a friend of mine is instead of smoking, drink and masturbate instead - lol - thought that was funny - yeah the guys a freak Thanks again - all the support is really helping.
Linlin Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 That sure would keep your hands busy anyway. Keep it up!
