Women evaluate other women they find attractive all the time, all the more of they're with a hot guy to get a feel for what she's doing right. Likewise they're also frequently hot for each other. Usually just benign, but it's still so. I've seen some pretty brazen examples of that in the past and I'll do it w/my BF myself all the time. (We check girls out together and compare notes lol).

Women are more concerned with feeling equal or "better" than the other women. Some women will sleep with a guy because he has an attractive girlfriend. If he was with a very attractive woman I would not pay attention to him as I would feel she is too much competition for me. Simple law of the jungle.

Pivoting off a Hot Female Friend will make the women in the room jealous. Now they might not sleep with you just BECAUSE of your hot female friend, but if they were already in the mood to hookup, you just appeared at the top of their list. Men with Women are more desirable to Women, because they know he's obviously doing something right - no need to filter through a bunch of losers.

When you get a girlfriend or get married, you instantly become more attractive to other women. They want to hug you more, touch you more and flirt with you more. The better looking your wife or girlfriend is, the hotter you become. It's sick and unfair, but it is part of life being a man. You will especially notice it if you date very attractive women. They send your social value soaring, which, in turn, makes you more attractive to other women. Just learn to deal with it and brush it off. Never cheat on a girlfriend or wife with these women. If you ever find these women more attractive and desirable than your girlfriend, break up with your girlfriend. If you are married, pretend you never even saw them.

All people value that which is scarce or hard to obtain for whatever reason. Having a woman with you raises your value. (Simply wearing a wedding ring does that too. Plenty of women will say men act the same way.) I have noticed that when I have a GF it is as if other women can smell it. I have noticed that when I have a BF it is as if other men can smell it. Once people know you have that "stamp of approval" they want to get a taste too. TL;DR: It is a mix of wanting to play with the shiny toy the other kid has because the other kid has it and because you don't have it. Really immature, but that is the way love is well into your adult years.
