LookAtThisPOst Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 I have to say, I've seen an increase in pictures of people I've seen online where if they had 5 or so photos of themselves, there is no pleasant look on their face whatsoever. With all the tips given about improving your online dating profile, should one of these tips to at least look pleasant? 1

With all the tips given about improving your online dating profile, should one of these tips to at least look pleasant? I see you've stumbled across my OLD profile... I received some very good tips on improving my profile in a thread I started yesterday, starting with my photos!
spiderowl Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 It's one of the strangest things about online dating. You can almost guarantee that if a guy's username is 'happyguy' or something like that, there will be a single pic of him looking sad and grim. The last thing you'd want to do is to date someone as unhappy looking as him. People don't have to be grinning all over, and I understand that guys sometimes prefer to look like a tough guy rather than fawning and smiling, but a slight smile or cheerful expression can make all the difference!
Popsicle Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I don't need a man to smile in his pictures. I'm used to men not smiling in pictures anyway, and probably even prefer that. I do prefer it if a man is not pessimistic or angry in his profile blurb though. 1

impatiently_patient Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Why would you prefer such a thing? OK Cupid (and a few other similar studies) showed that women favored pictures of men who were not smiling to smiling. Not sure they were able to determine precisely why (perhaps smiles look fake/forced, like politician pics) but it seems to be true. Now, I doubt all of their expressions were necessarily scowls, perhaps more "focused" or "content" of an expression. I think I look darned goofy with a toothy smile, so I opt for something more subtle and relaxed.
Popsicle Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Why would you prefer such a thing? I don't know. I've been brain washed maybe?
