To those that are married, how many different girlfriends/boyfriends did you have before? Also, how did you meet and what age? I've just had no luck with boys and after my first break up I don't want another haha! (Unfortunately I know I'll experience another break up at one point but would like reassurance!)

Posted

- Age 8 - first engagement (he ended up being gay)

- Age 14 - first boyfriend, never kissed him

- Age 15 - first boyfriend I thought I would marry, lots of petting

- Age 16 - boyfriend who got me pregnant that I thought I would marry and a rape

- Age 17 - affair with high school teacher (he told me he would leave his wife for me) Handful of sexual partners after that.

- Age 18 - boyfriend for two years

Handful of dates

- Age 20 - met and married a guy I thought was the one (he ended up gay) - divorced before the age of 25

Lots more dating and sleeping around

- Age 26 - moved in with a guy I really loved but ended it after 2 years when I got tired of waiting for him to tell me he loved me.

- Age 28 - met a guy I thought was "the one" and lived with him for 11 years.

- Age 42 - met a guy I had that "insane" chemistry with and left my 11-year relationship. This was the guy who brought me to this website. We were together 2 1/2 years. Toxic, toxic, toxic.

- Age 45 worked the OLD an insane amount; hundreds of convos and dozens upon dozens of meet-and-greet coffee dates

- Age 48 - met "The One" and have been married for almost two years.

So it took me almost 50 years to find the guy I KNOW I will be with the rest of my life...

I don't think I believe in the one. I personally think you just make a choice when you're ready. I wasted years of single life waiting for the "one". The one never came. Now I'm making a choice. He isn't perfect, neither am I, but at least I'm not single anymore. And he is a good choice, despite his imperfections. The "one" is a fairy tale, choices are real life.

Took me 35 years and wife 45 years, everything before was bloody pathetic...basically feel like school kids with each other. Rather odd, when it's there it's there.

Holy hell, CarrieT. That just gave me major anxiety reading that.
